IN THIS SEGMENT LET'S GET TO KNOW THE THOUGHTS AND INSPIRATION BEHIND THE FAN FICTIONS GIVEN TO US BY OUR BELOVED AUTHOR.
PART 2
TINA: How and when did you decide to be a fanfic author?
MIN: I decided to try be an author when I was studying in the library one day and I thought of a plot (Beyond Betrayal) for a fanfic and decided to give it a go, since I didn’t read many fics of the sort I wanted lol … so I thought it would be fun to write one of my own
TINA: What made you to sit down and actually write something?
MIN: I wanted to procrastinate from studying for exams LOL
TINA: What is the first fanfic you completed?
MIN: First fanfic I completed was a one shot called ‘Together at last’ for a friend on Tumblr as a Christmas fic exchange
TINA: How did you get your idea for your first fanfic?
MIN: I can’t remember lol … I think boredom and lack of genre I wanted
TINA: Have you had any prior experience of writing before your first fanfic?
MIN: Well we had to write literary pieces at High School, so I guess that would have been my ‘experience’
TINA: Have you ever plagued by doubts on your storyline?
MIN: Mmm I can’t quite remember lol … to be honest… I never really have a solid plot that has been all mapped out like other authors… I start with a fic idea then it blossoms and I juts go with the flow every time I write an update, so I guess I don’t really have any doubts with my storyline haha …
TINA: How did you promote your fanfic to readers?
MIN: I didn’t really promote much? When I first started I sort of just you know post in on AFF and LJ, then as the months I went up I tweeted about the updates on my Twitter lol
TINA: Have you ever been anxious about how the readers receive your story?
MIN: Not really… I sort of write for myself … If they like it Yay <3 if they don’t it's okay too <3
TINA: Thoughts on how you felt when you see the first comment on the first story? Do remember who is the first commenter?
MIN: I don’t remember the first commenter … Hehe (I went and checked my first fanfic x comment) … I guess I am just really surprised! Like still shocked (to this day) that people like what I write (wrote) … and I certainly did not expect such positive responses <3 Like I am still very shocked that people want to read my updates and ask me for sequels hehe
TINA: How do you prepare yourself before writing a fanfic?
MIN: Umm …Not a lot? Most of my inspiration for my fanfics is that when I think of a funny or a good line I include that in my fanfic as my plot basis … So I really just sit down and go with the flow hehe
TINA: Do you work out plot line or do you prefer to see where your ideas or inspiration take you?
MIN: I prefer to see where my inspiration takes me … hehe
TINA: When and how does your inspiration or muse come to you?
MIN: My muse comes from all sorts, things I saw that day, people, conversations I’ve had… everything really hehe
TINA: What is the weirdest place you were struck by inspiration for your fanfic? Did you write the plot?
If yes what is the title of the fanfic?
MIN: Well most of my plot ideas seem to come from when I was in the shower lol … I think I did manage to write the plots … but it might have varied a little from the original idea since I was in the shower hehe
TINA: How much research do you do for your story?
MIN: I try to do as much research as I can, if I have a more factual based fanfic I try my best to get all the facts and details right hehe
TINA: What is the easiest part of writing?
MIN: Easiest part … Hmm I’m not sure? … For me there isn’t really an easy part as per say, but I guess the easiest when writing is when inspiration hits and your muse is able to help you plan and write out a fanfic idea
TINA: The writer’s worst nightmare the dreaded writer’s block.
When is the worst writer’s block you ever had? How did you overcome it?
MIN: Ah, my worst writer’s block started almost exactly a year ago when I had to halt al my fanfic writing as I started Uni last February 2015, and continued until I came home for summer during December 2015. I continued some of my fics, but the fic I first started of with ‘Beyond Betrayal’ has not been touched for over a year since I have yet to find the inspiration to continue … It’s gotten to the point where people ask me if I am still alive and ok to continue lol… So I guess the writer’s block for Beyond Betrayal hasn’t been overcome, but I think I might attempt to continue it after I finish all my outstanding fics haha
TINA: Any useful tips on how to overcome the writer’s block?
MIN: Hmm, really just relax your mind and let inspiration hit … Like don’t stress to much over an idea …Like an idea will come hehe
TINA: Have you written any collaboration with other author’s? If yes name of the fanfic.
MIN: Nope, haven’t written any collaborations before, but I have beta read for a few authors before LOL
TINA: How do you describe your writing style? Do you think you have your own personal writing style?
MIN: I can’t describe my own writing style … because every time I re-read my own writing, the style varies slightly. It changes will my mood … and I guess you could say it evolves and changes with me as I gain more experience hehe
TINA: How do you think you have evolved creatively throughout the years? Do you notice any change in the way you write?
MIN: I think the way I have evolved creatively the most, is that I realize I use more variations and different syntax? Also I seem to have been able to narrow down more precisely the way I want a sentence to flow, rather than ramble on for a but before my ideas are clearly shown
TINA: Can you please tell us about the fic “all I want for Christmas” since it has a very unique story line.
MIN:I think this was one of my very first fics a few years ago T.T so I hope it’s acceptable … I think I was inspired by something I saw around Christmas time since I think I started around that time lol … to be perfectly honest, as with all my stories … I tend to make it up as I go haha
TINA: Same with jail bait… the pick up lines Jae uses … did you hear them or they are just yours?
MIN: Haha it’s a range! I heard some of them, but they are mostly fine or inspired by something I found funny: D
TINA: As you said beyond betrayal is long overdue … if you decide to continue it, what will you do … change the story line or go back and read the whole story to get the feel?
MIN:I think I would continue what I sort of had planned in my mind, but will definitely need to reread the story to make sure I remember what I had wrote lol … But I think I might end up changing some parts of the story as like me, as I change I think my writing style and plot will also change.
TINA: As a reader I would really like to see the fic complete … would you in the future have plans to complete it?
MIN: I would definitely like to finish it some time, hopefully soon, but Uni always has me knee deep with assignments and exams T.T
TINA: How important are readers and their comments?
MIN: Readers and their comments are very important <3 their feedback gives me a sense of accomplishment and urges me to continue what I am doing… Also I love reading their responses as sometimes I am able to draw inspiration from their continued encouragement hehe
TINA: I have been a silent reader for few months before taking the steps to comment..Any words for silent readers?
MIN: Silent readers, please don’t be afraid to drop by and say hello every once so often <3 I enjoy hearing what you have to say but if you prefer to be silent it’s okay too <3
TINA: Do you read other yunjae fanfics? If yes name of the fanfic you loved?
MIN: I loved reading Yunjae fanfics, but because life has been quite hectic for the last while I haven’t been able to read for a while
TINA: Are you friends with any other author’s?
MIN: Yep I am friends with some authors! <3 But I think because I am quite new to the writing world and barely update etc., a lot of authors don’t know who I am LOL
TINA: How do you make your stories standout when there are heaps of other stories with similar plot lines?
MIN: I guess the way mine stands out is that I have a different writing pattern, and I tend to add a few plot twist here and there and add a bit of humor, but if I realize a specific genre and style of fanfic has been overdone I try not to write those kinds lol
TINA: Has anyone stole your story and published under their name?
MIN: I’m not actually sure lol … I Haven’t found anyone stealing my fics, but I have found some fanfics that are similar to mine but I juts put it down to similar genres lol
TINA: DO you have any favorite time of the day to write stories?
MIN: Nope I write whenever inspiration hits … late nights… early mornings … hehe anytime
TALKING ABOUT SMUT IN FICS..
TINA: So tells us why are we so interested to read these taboo topics when it comes to yunjae?
MIN: I guess it has to do with mental and sexual exploration? LOL I mean a lot of readers want to experience some things but are unable to in real life, so they try and satisfy that exploration in writing? Haha
TINA: How difficult or easy is writing smut?
MIN: It’s difficult writing smut that is all I have to say lol … people ask me to but I find it very hard LOL … so the few times I have tried I had to…research hahahahaha
TINA: Do you blush or get embarrassed while writing smut?
MIN: Yep sure do get embarrassed lol … I am like … what would they think haha
TINA: How do you write the sex scene? What is the inspiration?
MIN: Lots and lots of research online LOL
TINA: Have you ever watched GV before writing a smut scene?
MIN: ….Hahaha yes that is my research lol … well only seen 1 so …. Haha
TINA: Has any family member or friends have ever walked on you while writing a sex scene?
MIN: Thank god no, I think I would have died if they did hahaha
TINA: Thoughts after writing your first ever sex scene?
MIN: I was like what is this??!!! Is this me?!!! Hahah
TINA: What is the secret of writing a sex scene that turns on your readers?
MIN: I have no idea to be honest, since it isn’t something I have had a lot of experience writing haha
TINA: Still writing or you stopped now? (If still writing answer next question)
MIN: A few yunjae projects, but I am unsure when I can execute them … since readers like to remind me of my unfinished fics lol <3
TINA: Have you anytime in future have plans on deleting your journal?
MIN: Ah, perhaps … because I am not a very frequent updater … many times I have contemplated deleting or locking my account … maybe one day in the future under certain circumstances I might …
TINA: Any words for the readers?
MIN: Thank you for your continued support! I shall continue to try my best <3 Thank you!
