LET'S GET TO KNOW THE LIKES AND DISLIKES OF CHIBIREINA124
PART 1
TINA:Before we begin the interview what do I call you with
AUTHOR: Rei

TINA: Hi Rei
Welcome to the interview..

TINA: Any special reason behind your journal name. if yes what and how did u come by it ?
REI: Both my journal names (chibi_reina & chibireina124) come from back when I was 12, a fan of the anime Fullmetal Alchemist where ‘chibi (small, etc)’ is a no-no word and ‘Reina’ is the name of a character from Rave Master. ‘Rei’ has stuck with me since then, so while I don’t go by ‘chibireina’ everywhere else, I still use Rei as an alias.

TINA: Where are you from?
REI: The US! I was born in California but lived my whole life not-in-California. It is a city mentioned twice in the game, Firewatch. That is all I will say.

TINA: Age relationship status partners and kids…
REI: I turned 24 not too long ago. No significant other or kids… one day possibly, but not now! I’m not ready for either of those.

TINA: What is your occupational status as if right now?
REI: Currently a housekeeper at an inn! Just going to say that if anyone stays at a hotel in the US at least, leave behind some small tips, they don’t necessarily need to be big! They help haha. I’ll be moving to Japan in a couple of months though, so I won’t be a housekeeper for too long.

TINA: Birthday ?
REI: I was born December 24. I was a premature babyyyy.

TINA: What is your favorite past time or what do u do in your free time?
REI: I play a lot of video games. By a lot, I mean mainly Final Fantasy. I also draw! Of course, also writing fanfics, but not as often as I used to back in high school. I cannot for the life of me write as much as I did back then.

TINA: Favorite color/s?
REI: I really like purple, pink, and yellow… and then a ton of others. I lean towards the “baby” shades of colors as well.

TINA: Favorite food and favorite country cuisine?
REI: My favorite food has always been lumpia, from the Philippines! My mom makes it for me from time to time and now I make it for myself from time to time. Lugaw (rice porridge, pretty much) is also a major favorite of mine, it’s a great comfort food. As for favorite country cuisine… I don’t have one, because I enjoy everything I try haha I love food a lot.

TINA: favorite movie/s. why?
REI: I don’t really have one. I’m not too much of a movie person anymore haha, I enjoy them, but I just don’t have a favorite.

TINA: Favorite book and favorite Author/s. why?
REI: Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones will always be my favorite! I read it before I ever watched the movie and just, aaahhh, I love it a lot. Though, nowadays I don’t really read a lot of fiction… I read more historical and topical books, like Escape from Camp 14 by Blaine Harden or anything on the Winter War. Oh no, I’ve become dull [laugh]! I don’t have any favorite authors though…

TINA: Comfort or Fashion?
REI: Both! I lean more towards comfort, but I do like to look as stylish as possible, in the most simple way while doing so. All of my outfits involve a large hoodie and jeans. I am very simple [laugh].

TINA: Dream destination?
REI: There are so many places I haven’t been to that I want to go! I’ve been planning for a couple of years now to go to Iceland with my sister, so that’ll happen eventually. I’d also like to visit England because I have friends there… and as for just going back, I’d love to go back to Tokyo and properly go to all the places I didn’t get to go to the first time.

TINA: Hobbies you are involved in?
REI: Pretty much everything I do in my past time haha. I also enjoy studying languages! I’m currently in the middle of mainly studying Japanese, but also Swedish and partially Finnish and Dutch on the side. I’ve studied Russian and Danish at one point, and plan to expand into even more languages once I get the gist of that side combo.

TINA: Ideal man /woman?
REI: I’m not sure if I have an ideal anyone since I’m trying to get my life all settled before I get into any of that haha. Just someone who is outgoing and extroverted just so we contrast and conversations actually happen. I’m at that point now though where whatever happens happens [shrug].

TINA: Who is your first crush?
REI: Oh gosh, celebrity-wise, it had to have been either Steve from the kids' show Blue's Clues or Elvis Presley? As for a person I actually knew, it had to have been when I was 7. He was in my class and I really liked him!! I don't remember if we ever actually played together though haha .

TINA: Have you ever been attracted to the same sex.?
REI: Not sexual attraction, but just little crushes a couple of times back in high school! Now though, I think it's really just intense admiration? Haha, I really just go with the flow though, so who knows!

TINA: What’s in your bag?
REI: A book of notes (phone numbers, etc), wallet, pocket knife, some recent receipts, PS Vita, and Escape from Camp 14. Haha, I try to read often but since I can’t, I do it at the laundromat.

TINA: 2 things you cannot live without?
REI: This is a tough one, because some things I say I can’t but I can… The obvious answer would be my laptop and phone, and I honestly only use my phone for emergencies so that’s why… the other answer would be my PS Vita and car haha (funny story, my car died on me while driving today after I typed this…). But my other answer would be food and water.

TINA: If u get to meet one celebrity either dead or alive who will it be and why?
REI: There are a group of people I want to meet and I don’t know if they count as celebrities exactly, but I’d love to meet the entirety of Rooster Teeth. I can’t pinpoint a specific reason, just? I love them a lot haha.

TINA: I am obsessed with______ fill it?
REI: My PS Vita. I got it more than a year ago and I still think it’s the greatest investment I’ve ever made.

TINA: I am Passionate about____________ ?
REI: Japan! And Finland. And New Zealand. I’m passionate about countries and cultures and people and historyyyyyyy, just… tell me everything about all these things and I will be completely engaged. Also languages. Soooo much.

TINA: Motto in life:
REI: “Keep moving forward.” This was something that stuck with me when the movie Meet the Robinsons came out. If I had bothered to turn in my senior quote in 2010, that would have been it as well. Then, it came back a year ago when one of my favorite people, Monty Oum, passed away. It was a phrase he had said and lived by, too. So, it’s just been something I’ve been living by for years and I plan on continuing to do it for years to come!

TINA: If u get stranded on an isolated island .name 3 things you want ?
REI: A manual on basic survival info, a knife, and someone who can skin+gut my food for me [laugh]. I could easily figure out how to survive but I’m so squeamish about blood and guts.

TINA: Proudest moment ever?
REI: Finally getting a two year degree (Associate’s) after five years. That was last year, by the way.

TINA: Most embarrassing moment?
REI: Okay, so you know how people say you shouldn’t open your coolant lid in your car right after it had been running for a while? That’s exactly what I did! I got sprayed with extremely hot coolant, but my first thought wasn’t, “Wow, this hurts a lot, this really hurts.” It was, “Oh God, was anyone around to see what just happened. No? No, thank God, oh my God, nobody saw anything.” I’m still embarrassed even if no one was around to see what had happened, though [laugh].

TINA: One day you open the door and find Yunjae on your doorstep?
REI: (in broken Japanese because I can only speak ten words of Korean probably) “Oh, hello! Would you like to come in? Are you hungry? Do you like bread? I have bread!” (credit for bread bit comes from Tumblr user awkwardlygeeky on a Tumblr post by tinychatter)

TINA: If you are to write your life story what will the title be?
REI: It might be something like Something Better as inspired by the Softengine song.

TINA: Goal in life:
REI: Oh gosh, I don’t have a main goal… I guess it would be to be able to understand and speak conversational Japanese without a second thought, for starters… after that, we’ll see from there haha. Also, I recently received watercolor paints as a gift, so I’d really like to become a pro at those… or any kind of traditional medium! I have a lot of small goals, I guess haha.

TINA: who is the best critic of your stories?
REI: I don't really have anyone critic my stories on purpose myself, so anyone who offers constructive criticism without my prompting is the greatest help of all! I try to check and re-check myself over and over before submitting a story (I'm too shy to ask for a beta?), but even then, I get embarrassed re-reading what I just wrote and post it as is... orz
