I remember having a conversation with Amber once about cartoon characters and how silly it is that they always have to have some accessory, usually a bow but sometimes it's lipstick or a purse or whatever, to indicate the character is a girl. Ah, unpacking gender assumptions using cartoon characters. ;) I admit, it never occurred to me Blue would be a girl - I've never seen the show.

LOL...the more you think about it, the more you realize how often you see boy characters as being the 'default' and girl characters as 'other' (i.e. with a bow, with big eyelashes, with a dress, etc). If there is an ambiguous character, it is almost always male. I actually wonder if Blue is a girl specifically to fight that trend? I just did a quick google search on the topic, and apparently I'm not the only who who thinks that!
