I have the same problem expressing my feelings as well, I do the whole song thing just because I feel its the only way to explain how I'm feeling to people without making it too difficult and confusing.

On the other hand about what your aunt said about breaking up .. I am kinda in the same position except we're just "together" and I'll be the one leaving. He tends to bring it up a lot and I always say lets just see what happens. You never know until you try, so what I have to say about that is don't listen to what your aunt said, try and if it works out then great and if not, it wasnt meant to be. The only good part about trying it out first is you won't ever have the "what if's" to think about.
