I attended a presentation at our local genealogical society's general meeting tonight. Sometimes the presentation is stuff I think I might use years from now, but tonight's topic will do for here and now. Meetings like that can be a great boost to both motivation and networking. If you get to the point where you decide to take clients, things like this can also help find people. The possible downside is getting in over your head with volunteer time, but what is too much depends entirely on the person. Hope it goes well. :)

Funny you should mention that. The society also took a survey which included a question about whether we could take on research for people who contact the society, volunteer and paid. I expressed interest, but I'm not quite ready yet to commit time to paid clients.

Also, one of the two study groups that I am participating in currently is entirely focused on starting a genealogy business. From that group I have determined that I know more about car repair than business, and you won't catch me under a car! Need more education...
