thats kind of sad that you arent into politics, dont you think. i dont know, it is our lives at stake and i think that people should really take interst in that. our future...maybe then you could make your decisions based on actual data and whatnot, i mean most of what he said is the solid truth, that bush has made the economy the worst its been in years, and thats a big issue with us because if he gets elected again i would think that we would want to get jobs when we graduate that arent minimum wage jobs. anyways, if you ever want to talk about politics i love looking into issues and i know a lot about the upcoming election, so yeah..anyways. i guess this is a rebutle to your rant. sorry. oops.

it is sad that i don't know more about what is going on in this country regarding politics and the candidates. re-reading what i wrote, i do come across as incredibly dumb and not caring too much, but really i am very concerned with the election and the issues. i suppose i am, like most americans, somewhere in between wondering who and what to beleive. i try to read up on some issues and get the facts, but like i said, its so overwhelming and i feel like i will never know the whole truth in any respect because there is so much lying and deception going on in this country. i wasn't trying to say that everything edwards said was BS, because i know it wasnt't- he addressed some important issues and made some good points, i was more just commenting on the rally and how i found it amusing the way it all goes on. Also, i feel so often like the candates are just saying what the people want to hear and making empty promises. I guess, politics just frustrate the hell out of me and i don't trust anyone in any way connected to the governement ( ... )

you should try to find some nonpartisan websites about the issues, there are a lot out there if you want to look.

barrage the public with some much info that they bored, or just can't possible comprehend it all. They have been doing this for years so they are very good at it. Politics is simple really. They make it complex to keep you uninvolved.

The problem is that it's a two party system, and neither party wants to take chances.

Example: If the Dems would get off their asses and say "Hey, let's decriminalize pot," then they'd instantly have a large section of formerly unmotivated liberal college students ready to back them. Unfortunately decriminalization has been declared to be political suicide by both parties, and as such neither party will take a chance. Which means that the status quo will perpetuate itself indefinately.

Yeah, there are third parties but they're heavily marginalized. And forget starting a grass roots movement in this country without free love and pyschedelic drugs, we're too damn wrapped up in ourselves to care about fundemental changes to the system.

...Holy fuck, that was entirely unwarranted.

we have dug ourselves so far into the 2-party system that it is virtually impossible to escape from it. we are left with 2 options and 2 options only for who will be in the white house come january. 3rd parties are a wasted vote because they will never gain enough support to create any real change. and to take a radical stance on an issue and try to make any fundamental changes would be 'political suicide' for either party, so it just aint gonna happen ( ... )
