the sad thing is, this happened in APRIL and if i didn't read dan's blog, i would not have known. :(

It hasn't been picked up by the news media which makes me a little suspicious. A reporter totally would have jumped on that story, even if it was just local. Maybe he's holding out on major interviews to give CBS time to investigate, however.

The same article is on a number of blogs, though. There's also a mention on his former college's website about his recovery.

For the most part, it seems legit. Would be interesting to see a national piece on it. I hate to make up my mind one way or another after hearing only one side of the story. Perhaps the police are investigating but due to that country's laws have to be real tight lipped about the investigation until it's complete. Maybe the witnesses were calling the wrong number.

I have not heard about this at all, and that's strange, since I'm Dutch and it's about a former Dutch colony.
I'll ask my colleagues who work on the subject of 'overseas matters' if this is known to them.
We already suffer from the Nathalee Holloway case and don't need another one. Those people overseas really have to get their act together...

well, this happened in mid-april and it's still not well known. but they should go ahead and investigate it already.
