It's a little late for spring cleaning, I know... but it's hard getting started when you keep getting boxes of things delivered to your home. Dessie's REALLY been into online shopping. Every day, she finds more and more things she wants! I lent her my card so she can order without having to ask me; some days, I'll wake up in the morning to ANOTHER ( Read more... )

I suppose it wouldn't really surprise you to know that mine is the Steel Samurai.

R-really? I thought you might prefer a someone more "old school."

Hm. Like who? I haven't read comics other than The Steel Samurai since I was a very young boy.

I don't know... I just imagined you being a little more old-fashioned.

Son, you gotta check out Black Jack. Not too sure if it's in print anymore, but when I read it in high school, it sure affected me, mm-hmm. He was like the Robin Hood of doctors, bilkin' the rich (no offence to my patients who pay me) and taking care of the poor.

An Osamu Tezuka series? That sounds great! I watched some ancient black and white episodes of Astro Boy once, and the story and characters were really enjoyable and timeless.

The characters in Black Jack were pretty great, mm-hmm. Black Jack's backstory, what made him become a surgeon, that was something else, woo boy.

I'll check that out, and other titles by Tezuka too while I'm at it. Thank you, sir!

Hm. Well, I don't really think it's the sort of comic book you're thinking of, nor does it really have 'heroes' per se, but I did enjoy "Strangers in Paradise" when I was younger... it's been ages, but I remember liking the character David in particular. His story was--well, I found it very compelling.

Is that the one about the blonde woman and black-haired woman who are best friends? It's won many awards, hasn't it? But it seems like it might be too... feminine for my tastes?

Yes, that's the one--you're thinking of Katchoo and Francine, who I suppose are the two most 'main' characters if I remember correctly...

I thoroughly enjoyed it, and honestly, I don't think it's 'feminine' enough to turn someone off... yes, it might have much more of a focus on interpersonal relationships than others, but there's certainly action and excitement every once in a while, if that's more your thing.

Okay, Miss Andrews! I'll skim through it the next time I get a chance. Visually, it looks to be a very refreshing style!
