So what to do when a fellow fan-girl comes to town? Show her what I love about Toronto!
I was easy on
Spiralleds yesterday. We started off with a pedicure and then a tour of the Annex area of Toronto.
The far western point of the day was Snakes and Lattes, a coffee shop that bars laptops and has a long long wall of games -- everything from Operation to Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit, four types of RISK to long strategy games. Unfortunately there wasn't time to dive in for a round, even if the Battleship was calling my name.
Walked through the edge of Korea Town to Markham Street and the Beguiling with its floor of graphic novels and second story of traditional comics. They had the Guild's new stand alone "Tink" *squee*. (Today we're going to Silver Snail for proper comparisons)
Continued along Bloor, studying the windows of Honest Ed's (where you can always find golden busts of Elvis for sale)and then past the coffee shops and book stores that proliferate near campuses everywhere. A deke south let her see the Victorian houses in various states of repair and coloured paint until we hit BakkaPhoenix -- Toronto's premiere genre book store where Spi's picked up Gamain's Blueberry Girl. It has a great message and beautiful art work.
Back up to Bloor (and yes you can plot this tour on a map if you're so inclined)we passed the Bata Shoe Museum, Varsity Stadium, and "the Crystal" archetect Daniel Libeskind to the Four Seasons where we had Afternoon Tea!
But wait, there's more.
After a lovely tea (if slow service) we ambled Yorkville pausing at the Betsy Johnson store, and Pusateri's the very high end grocery store. I pointed out the Pilot pub where I'd had a live Teddy spotting in the fall and then the CookBook store (yes another dedicated book store!) We passed the Masonic Temple as I talked about various Space TV specials I'd attended there and then on to the SummerHill LCBO -- the flag ship of the government run liquor stores. It has a tasting center and then we picked up some bubblely for further celebrations with berries dipped in sugar or cocoa.
What will we get up to today?
