Home Sweet Home....

What have I gotten myself into?
Hey, Will, feel like workin some mojo for me? What? You can? You will?! And that’s exactly why you’re the best!I’ve replayed my half of that convo four times since arriving, yet it always seems to end the same. Me...L.A....alone. I wasn’t worried about the ‘L.A’. part, and I can safely say this next part without ( Read more... )

::I opened my eyes to see a girl walking to one of the lunch tables. I hadn't fallen asleep, just kinda relaxing and getting some air, cause after all I was grounded and I still had a talk to look forward to when Buffy got home. I watch as the girl makes herself comfy on the table top. She looked a bit younger then I was but couldn't be a big difference. I mean she was at highschool. Maybe she was ditching her classes to. After all seems like the cool thing to be doing now a days. I looked down and watched as she played with the lighter...and she had a cool jacket on to::

"Nice day ain't it"

::I watch as the girl looks about as she heard my voice...just not sure where it was coming from::

"Hey, Jacket girl. Up here"

"Nice day ain't it”

I looked around a bit confused for a moment as to where the voice had come from. When I had taken my seat I hadn’t seen anyone around. Plus, I was facing the building, so if anyone would have come from there I would have noticed it.

I don’t remember Will mentioning a side affect of schizophrenia when I got the disclaimer for this trip.

"Hey, Jacket girl. Up here"I tilted my head back and saw a girl sitting in a tree. She was kind of upside-down from my view point, so I turned myself around so I could face her instead of having her talk to my back. Once seeing her from a proper vantage point, my heart skipped a beat or two. It was her....the reason I had decided to wait at the bloody school in the first place. I came to seek her out, and she ends up finding me....slightly odd, but it made my job easier. That didn’t take anything away from the ‘it being odd’ factor ( ... )

::Hi....tree girl....Okay well I guess it coulda been worse. I wrap my legs around the branch and hang down, I swing back and forth before letting go of the branch and flipping down and landing on the ground. I turn to face the girl and look her over. Before introducing myself::

"Hey, the name's actually Dawn."

::I look about and still see no sign of Nicole then look back to the girl::

"So you got a name? Also I just started school here...well today actually. So what year are you in?"

::Okay I don't want to scare the poor girl off by asking to many questions. Maybe she doesn't want to answer any. I mean I came out here to sit in a tree to think, maybe that is what she was doing and here I am being like that Erin girl and bothering people. I smile to her to show that I don't mean any harm::

“Uh...freshman. I--I’m a freshman. And the name’s Abby.”

That came out a bit better then my last attempt to speak....bravo!

“Pleasure to meet you Dawn.”

It was odd calling her ‘Dawn’....just didn’t feel right. I tried my best to cover my accent as I spoke. It was something I could usually slip in and out of quite easily....unless I was nervous. It was one way my parents could always tell I was lying. It’s like a bloody curse. This is what happens when you spend your summers in England, with the occasional spur of the moment visit every now and again...or if your father just happens to have a thick accent himself.

“New here ‘ey? That’s a bit odd.....you don’t look like a Freshman.”

I shrug slightly at my own statement.

“‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ and all that I guess....”

"Freshmen and Seniors are like....non-mixy things. Well, that’s how it is on T.V. most of the time. And T.V. is always right!"::Well she wasn't wrong about the T.V being right. Cause I mean anything you see on T.V hasta be true. I thought about her un-mixy things comment for a minute..heh sounds like Buffy's rule for cars which is soooo true Buffy and Cars = Bad ( ... )

“Erin.....right....thanks for the heads up.”

I subconsciously looked down over myself as she mentioned Nicole. I had enough on my mine without added stress of looking L.A. chic. It was semi-weird seeing Dawn without her though. Even in my-place and time-they are virtually inseparable. Ugh...’place and time’ makes me sound like one of Drew’s comic books. How does that one movie start? Something about a long time ago and a galaxy far away....uh, close enough. I take my attention off my apparel as I notice her try a subject change--not a very smooth one either.

“After....?”

I knew exactly what the after was, and I was probably pushing some major boundaries at this point.

“I-I’m sorry. You don’t have to answer that. I tend to ask a lot of questions....just--forget I said anything.”

"Ya no problem"

::I thought about how my bad attempt at changing the subject was...I never really was good at the whole thing. Again that was one of Nicole's area's of expertises.::

"After....?"::Well looks like I really didn't do a great job at changing the subject. I dunno. I didn't know Abbs that long but she seemed nice enough. Plus things like this does happen, not just to me. I just don't know if I feel like getting into it. Sure it's not a huge deal like saying oh by the way monsters and demons that we feared when we were lil under our bed actually do exist rather then talking about a death whith was natural but it still shouldn't have happened to her.Even if it was false memories and all..she was still my mother. Much as I hate saying it, Buffy is my sister to ( ... )

Wow....didn’t expect her to answer. A very pleasant surprise that she didn’t storm off in another direction. It was good that she could talk about it though, keeping stuff bottled in is a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe I should take a hit of my own wisdom ( ... )

"Yeah, can't imagine who---or what would want to blow up a building full of old people. That was in the paper in the States?"

::Well...huh good point. I mean after all it was The Watcher's Council and that Quintin Travers he was really old..I mean Giles was old but this Quintin he was like ancient!.::

"Ya I guess..building full of old folks. They were prolly gonna die soon anyway...the first that blew em up just made things faster. Actually it wasn't in the Sunnydale newspaper cause that is really just local news and such. But I mean you can find anything on the net and Giles. He is a friend of the fam. He is from England to so he likes to check to see what's going on and such. So I was reading the paper and there are some interesting things so I checked it everyday pretty much and saw that a building had been blown up."

""Sunnydale huh? Sweet name for a town."::Sunnydale...sweet...sure if your a vampire and you like blood kinda sweet. But gummie bears and ice cream sweet was definitely far from it. Hello it was a hellmouth. Kinda ( ... )

I try to force a believable 'Graveyard? Are you serious?' kind of look, but I think it just came of like me looking sick...Who doesn't love a good romp through a graveyard?! God knows I do. Always fun to get into a bit of a rough and tumble with a member of the un-dead.

"The Bronze...odd name. Not any better then the hang outs 'round here I guess. Think I saw a place called D'Oblique...could have read it wrong." I wonder if I should go on or stop while I'm ahead...meh, couldn't hurt. "Graveyards are...nice. Quiet...kind of an odd get away. But I can think of worse places to be."

*motions to the school building*

"That being one of them..."

"Graveyards are...nice. Quiet...kind of an odd get away. But I can think of worse places to be."::Okay guess this girl wasn't all that thrilled for graveyards. From the look she was giving of she looked like she was gonna get sick or has obviously never been to one. I mean it's not that bad. The people there are all dead...well most are there is the few vamps and such but I don't think I will bring that up. Not until after we have our first game of hide and seek in there cause ya again judging from the look. If she new vamps were there she would either laugh or look at me weird ( ... )

"You know what I am saying. Highschools are just like a place to be put into dumb groups. Like cheerleaders, band geeks and jocks. That kinda thing. Or that whole Seniors hang with Seniors. It's stupid. So I will hang out whoever I want, based on my own judgment."

I nodded as she went on.

"Nice to see youre open minded when it comes to that sort of thing. Can't stand narrow minded people, with their...narrow...minds."

I clear my throat and stay quiet for an awkward moment.

"Right, well that's kind of a given I guess."

"Ouch, well...we all have our clumsy--moments--"::Clumsy moments...if only that were the truth. I have enough of them sure but this time it wasn't my fault. But I had to act out like it was cause even though I know she didn't mean to, if Social services ever found out that to be the reason they would see differently. I don't and would never want to do that to her. I lost her once and almost got taken away from her before. That isn't gonna happen just cause of a stupid fight that was kinda my fault for being out ( ... )

Damn that bleedin' bell.

"So you have any plans for the rest of the day?"

"Not unless you count me sittin' on this here table 'plans'." I pat the table top and smile slightly. "I think it likes me." Standing on the tables surface, I then hop off and land on the ground facing the building. "I say I've pretty much had my fill of this place for one day. Besides...not really sure where I'm supposed to be now anyway. Don't want to walk into a class that I'm not supposed to be apart of."

Which was all of them....

"How 'bout you? Gonna sit through that math class of yours or continue on your rebel-ish path with the cuttin' Summers?"

Adjusting the straps of my backpack, I take a few steps then stop dead in my tracks. I had just called her by her last name...

Please tell me she did mention her last name during our conversation. If I can't remember then what's the likelihood that she can?

Buggar all...

::Well sounds like some good ole fashioned plans. I must admit though. Sitting on the tables was actually not really fun but it didn't completely suck. I mean there was a good view...if you don't look at the school. But other then that it was a pretty ok place::

"How 'bout you? Gonna sit through that math class of yours or continue on your rebel-ish path with the cuttin' Summers?"::Math class...or cuttin. Okay this girl clearly didn't know me. I slide off the table and pick up my bag that was at the bottom of the tree and walk over to her then I look up at her. Did she just call me Summers..Only Nicole calls me Summers. Wait hold up...I didn't even tell this girl my last name. I called her jacket girl. Then she called me tree girl. There was an exchange of names...only first names ( ... )

'Summers'...what was I a complete idiot?! Okay, gotta look at this from that whole 'glass is half full' perspective. I could have called her something worse....'Aunt Dawn' is a prime example. There would have been no coming back from that one. But 'Summers'...i could work with. I hope.

"Boy, rapid fire with the questions. Let's start with: No, I'm not here on behalf of your sister. And again; no, I'm not Nicole's friend. But I have heard of her actually. Hemery royalty as it were. And you being best friends with her puts you at the top too. Which isnt a bad place to be. Not...that I'm using you to weasel my way to the top or anything...and this sounds like a presidential debate."

Maybe I should have stuck with tree girl...it seemed odd at the time, but now? Well, it would have saved me all this poor explaining.

"I know you've only been here less than a day, but as you'll find out--word travels fast."

I really hope she's buyin' this...
