The noises in this room. Who left on the television? "Fred," I tried to say "turn off the TV and come to bed." It came out "Red, offtv dom thiue". And dear lord it hurt to talk ( Read more... )

With Dawn now off the phone, my attempts at getting into the E.R had been put on hold...for the moment.

"Just watch he will get back up and everything will be okay again."

Wasn't it like a rule for people to say that when someone you know was in the hospital? They really had no idea what the outcome of the situation was going to be, but they insisted 'everything would be fine'. And I'm not excluding myself from this. I know I'm guilty of the act as well.

I looked around the waiting room as Dawn mentioned Abby was gone. I wasnt too crushed...I had said all I needed to when I thanked the girl. I still wasnt sure about her, again....probably just paranoia.

"You've seriously got an odd pallet when it comes to the flavor of your friends Summers...." I was about to continue when it dawned on me that I was one of those odd flavors.... "And we're moving on....."

"Buffy gave the Ok for you to spend the night at our new place if you felt up to it.It's totally up to you."Leave? As in being somewhere that was other where than here ( ... )

I sighed in relief as the doctor gave us the 4-1-1 on how Gunn was doing. I would have hugged him, but I managed to contain my enthusiasm. Once he brought up the word ‘family’, my enthusiasm was even easier to contain ( ... )

::I stood next to Nicole and just stayed quiet while listening to the doctor speak and let us know about Gunn. Least he had came to even if it was for a few moments. That is better then nothing. Then before I realized he was even done talking came with the rushing and about punctures to the neck and that kind of stuff before I snapped out of whatever little world I had wondered off into.I then lifted the still frozen ice pack to my face and looked at Nicole after the doc had walked back into the E.R ( ... )

After hanging up with Cor, I re-pocketed my cell phone and looked at Dawn.

"See. All called. Ok, so I only called one, but trying to reach Angel...I may as well send smoke signals, and I'm not by any means calling Fred. Noway, no how, nuh-uh. Cor can have the honor of that...'cause I'm such a giving person...."

My thoughts drifted to the person who had just been taken into the ER. Mr.--or Miss. 'deep punctures to the neck'. Damn vampires...don't they ever take a night off?

::I leaned against a wall that I happened to be standing not far from and held the ice pack to my face and looked at Nicole who was now standing infront of me. I watched as she reached into her pocket pulling out her cellphone.::

“Not Fred. Not Fred. Not Fred....”

::Okay who is Fred?! I looked at Nicole oddly. I thought there was Gunn, Angel, Cordelia and Wini....oh!! FRED!! her...okay glad I didn't say that out loud cause ya I wouldn't look to smart that way. I am glad Nicole just kinda ignored my look. I listened as Nicole started talking and was happy that Fred didn't pick up. From the way she was talking about what had been going on and such. My guess is it was Cordelia. I had no idea what Cordy was saying but I image she will be here soon. I can ask Nicole that once she gets off the phone. A few moments later Nicole hung up her cell and put it back in her pocket and looked at me::

"See. All called. Ok, so I only called one, but trying to reach Angel...I may as well send smoke signals, and I'm not by any means calling Fred. ( ... )

I took a seat on one of the chairs. Figured I'd give the trying to get into the ER thing a rest. That Dr. dude would come out and tell us if anything major happens.

"I'm sure she'll get a hold of who she can. Hopefully Fred is number one on her list, because she is the one who really needs to be here. She and Gunn....they're pretty close, not that the whole lot of them aren't, but it's...different with those two. Would be nice if he woke up before she got here..."

I trailed off and looked up at her and her icepack.

"You can go...I mean--if you wanted to you could....I'll be fine. Knowing Buffy, she's probably just being accommodating with the letting you stay out so late aspect, while in reality she wants you home."

'Probably'? That's an understatement.

Generally I am always doing something. But I learned that doing something constantly can be bad. I learned that when mom passed away. Buffy was always doing something to keep her mind of things. Maybe that is why I did that to at times ( ... )

"Yes...and no. I think they’re on one of those stupid ‘timeouts’. But there’s most definitely sparkage still sparkin’ away even if they try to ignore it."

::That kind of sounds like Buffy and Angel's relationship. Well former relationship...do I even want to call that a relationship? Sure they loved each other and that but that whole happiness deal it would never work out. Cause you know the deal hello happiness bye-bye soul. Then there was Riley. He was sweet, kind of normal. Least he was a human. But he took off and came back married. Now there is Spike. Again he is a vampire and tried killing Buffy a few times. Then he landed himself a brand spankin new soul and they are together. They were together before he got a soul when he was chipped but then he died saving the world and now he is apparently back and a ghost....Okay she needs help with her whole love life status. But I am going off topic here. I tend to do that at times. Just at that point the doctor came out one again::

“Any luck reaching someone?” The doctor asked::I ( ... )

::I watched as Nicole started off with her end of the plan. I gave it a few minutes to make sure everything was going as planned. I then went down onto the floor just incase the nurse did happen to look over my way, she wouldn't be able to see me. I crawled on past Nicole and reached the E.R doors. I then looked up to Nicole waiting for the hand motion to let me know that the nurse had her attention to Nicole. Once seeing Nicole motion her hand I pushed the door open and slid on through. I crouched under the ledge which was the top part of the desk and made my way to the entrance of her small office area. I glanced up to Nicole::

"No need to get snippy. I'm just....curious. I'm at that age where I need to think about my future! Ya know? And a job where I can talk on the phone and get paid for it....well sign me up! Oh, but no telemarketing, ew."::Once Nicole had said that the nurse started yammering on about her job. I carefully opened the filing cabinet and looked through the "g" section and couldn't find Gunn's chart. I popped my ( ... )

This was some form of unrecorded cruel and unusual punishment! At this point I wasn't even sure if the woman was talking about her job still. I never envied the life of a deaf person...till now. For the first 10 minutes of it I had managed to nod during her story or give a little 'uh-huh', 'yeah', or even...gasp a 'wow'.

I caught sight of Dawn through the corner of my eye, and I think I squealed. I had endured the womans babbling and could now get gone. I stopped her, mid-sentence and spoke as fast as I could so she wouldn't cut me off in turn.

"Wow! That was---interesting! But ya know...I don't really think nursing is for me. The outfit is all wrong, and the shoes...even worse. I'll stick what I wanted to be since I was 6....a pony. Bye!"

I hurried off and rushed over to Dawn. As I passed her I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her along, making a mad dash for the nearest ladies room.

"Uh-huh...anytime."

::I don't blame her for not worrying about me, because she knew that when it came to being a klepto that I got it all covered. So I walked over near Nicole and sat on one of the sinks in the bathroom and looked at Nicole who was reading through the chart.::

"A few broken bones...he's been all casted up. Internal abdominal bleeding----they got that under control though. And some blood loss...of the non internal kind. He needed a transfusion... Oh! And he's type AB positive."::I listened as Nicole read the chart, well the important information. The stuff that the doctor was keeping rom us. The good thing is it's nothing really badly. A few broken bones, they heal in no time and they got the internal abdominal bleedin under control. Plus I now know his blood type ( ... )

"Let's just leave it here. It's easier that way. Besides I am better at stealing stuff then I am at putting the stolen item back. Plus where is the fun in that."

I shook my head and smiled after she said that. It was nice that she embraced her criminal tendencies. The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, ya know.

Once we got back to the waiting room I noticed...no one. Well, no one I wanted to see. Just that damn nurse. No Cordy--no Fred. If this is Cordelia's idea of 'I'll be there soon', then I'd hate to see how long we'd be kept here alone if she took her sweet time...

"Should I call again? I-I should call again.... Or try my luck with someone else maybe...?"

Someone else? Like who? Mr. Cell phone savvy--also known as Angel? Lorne maybe? Not even sure if I had his number stored in my phone...

"Ugh!"

Sure, lets add frustration to worry.

::I let the bathroom door swing shut once Nicole had walked out. Then we walked down the hall back to the waiting room, where no one was there. Well no one but that nurse. Hopefully she doesn't want to talk to Nicole...or me for that matter Nicole looked like she would have fallen asleep if I didn't get out there as soon as I did.::

"Should I call again? I-I should call again.... Or try my luck with someone else maybe...?"::I watched as Nicole got frustrated. I don't blame her though. She called Cordy a while ago and she still hadn't shown up. It's got to be almost morning and Nicole and I haven't had one moment of sleep, which I am not really complaining. Nicole and I have done the all nighters thing before. Least this way I have a reason for not going to school today which believe me when I say I'm okay with that ( ... )

"Right, call her again. I can do that. See, this is me doing....that"

I dialed the first 4 number of Cor's cell phone, giving her the benefit of the doubt that she had left the office by now. Before hitting the fifth button I loose my concentration as a familiar song drifts through the ER waiting room. At first, the words escaped my mind...but after the portion of the song continued 5 times over...it hit me.

Three little maids who, all unwary,
Come from a ladies' seminary,
Freed from its genius tutelary
Three little maids from school.

"Gunn's phone!" I rushed over to the nurses desk and snatched the cell phone she had just picked up. The thing was pretty beat up...I'm surprised it still worked. "Hello?"

Nothing....

"Hellllloooo." ::sighs:: "Well this was pointle-- Cordy?"

I could hear the sound of my cousins voice on the other end....but it was faint, like she wasn't speaking directly into the mouth piece. "Cor, are you speaking into the ear piece again?"
