naughtiness in dubai

incase you haven't seen this - those naughty poms!
having grown up in dubai i know there is a big gaping 'cultural divide' . i also find the economic vs. cultural discrepancy clearly clearly glaring. a city that is so glitzy has a traditional underbelly. big surprise! did they expect cultural change to occur in 20 odd years?

yes i came to oz to do my phd about 5 years ago and i've been here ever since. durrr!

it'll be interesting to see which way they go, looser laws and more tourism, or continued traditionalism even if it means a drop in economic growth.

ya i think it might be the former. there are already a lot of cases where the police turn a blind eye - unless ofcourse they are blatant like beach shenanigans.
