In my experience cats tend to behave better when they have a friend to hang out with.

We do have two cats, for exactly that reason. Unfortunately, the second cat doesn't really like to play rough n' tumble, so while they do keep each other company, Eddie (the tabby) isn't really entertained as much as he'd like.
