I love that the original "ugly" was buried with Grandma. What a fun family tradition!

I'm glad you had that reaction. Too many times people look at us funny when we tell the story. :)

I love this so much! Our immediate family feels huge at 25, it's hard to fit us all into one place, but if we were to bring in cousins and relatives from the two previous generations, I'm sure it would take a hall to hold us all... Daddy May had 6 brothers and sisters, who mostly had 4-5 children,* who had 4-5 children, who now have 2-3 children. It's been a long time since I even did the math to figure out how many we all are, but I can't say that we've ever ALL shared a Christmas together... I must admit, that would be quite something, and you're very fortunate. What a fabulous blessing! :-)

*(my Dad was a rare exception, as he only had one brother, but when his dad married my Mom's mother, that also brought her 5 siblings into the same mix, along with their progeny)

My husband's side numbers around 25 with his brother, sister, and their families. We had them all over on Saturday. It was fun, but it's difficult in a house. Especially an older one that isn't set up for entertaining.
