I’ve tried, though admittedly not very hard, to write something. Something complete. Something I could submit to an editor. Something that might earn me some sort of income. I’ve come up empty. Every. Single. Time.

There were Ahndrea and…shit, I can’t even remember his name. She was traveling cross country to start a new life and new career, ( Read more... )

Figuring out all the details between the opening and conclusion is indeed the hardest part. I don't know how authors do it.

I don't know either. I really need to try harder at finding out. ;)

Very relatable content! And Mara and Jalon definitely had possibilities- don’t let idol votes pull you away from them! Idol is about bite-sized, polished pieces. There’s good longer stuff that loses to snappier short stuff here. And that’s okay, but you shouldn’t let it get you down.

I'm not letting votes pull me away from them, but they definitely do increase the doubts. I still think there is something there and that it could be timely with the latest fascination/trend with magic stories.

I think the bite-sized pieces are just easier for me, and maybe it's a time constraint. I wonder if I had the time to devote to writing in an uninterrupted block would make a difference. Like most of us though, finding that time is difficult.

I remember Mara and Jalon's stories! I'd pay to read their story again. Please don't give up. Your stories are good, and definitely worth paying for. Hopefully, a publisher will realize that too.

I'm glad you liked them! Thanks for the compliment.

I'm not giving up, just...looking for time and motivation to get back to them.

I have a childhood friend who published a YA trilogy and it's really made me think about whether I could do it or not.

I think you are a writer and I know you can do this. It ain't easy, but it is a goal that can be met! Don't give up!

Awww. Thank you! This encouragement means a lot. I have decided to dust off the Scrivener files and take another look...

I use Scrivener, too. I think many of us have novel WIPs. After Idol, let's make that writers group!

We need that writers group! I, for one, could use the feedback from all these wonderful people. I've never taken any creative writing classes or anything of that nature, so I rely on any feedback I can get. It's how I realized that I was writing things in two different POV's and trying to combine them.
