Amazing and what a beautiful story! There were so many secret stories like this back in the day, (some adoption-related, some not). My grandma lost her 1st baby. It broke her heart.

Thank you. I had a friend who had an aunt who never married and was convinced that she didn't because her intended had died in Vietnam and she never got a chance to meet him. The concept for this is kind of based off that story.

This was so well written, so bittersweet. You put a lot into this entry and created such a believable world. Your dialog was excellent.

Thank you. Once I got the idea, it just started to flow. I'm so glad the dialogue worked. I think it's my biggest weakness.

My extended family was never really big secret keepers, but I've known some who are. I'm glad that it worked. It seemed fitting for the topic.

I have a feeling that things like this happened more often back then. People just didn't talk about those things that weren't "normal" or were too emotionally difficult.
