EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*leaps upon you from a great height*

I thought you'd FORGOTTEN! *waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...sniff*

Oh, this is shiny! Very, very shiny indeed. I can just taste then afternoon sunshine and smell the scent of the bonfire.

There were a couple of lines that made me groan, they were so perfect.

His silence wasn’t always about not having anything to say.

and

That was where they’d always been. Outside. Cycling. Swimming. Laughing. Shouting out into the wind. Pissing into the ocean. Duck wasn’t a man to be held by four walls. Wasn’t a man who ever seemed comfortable inside.

are the two I can find right now. So perfectly true and so perfectly Duck.

Thank you, THANK YOU, my darling girl. I couldn't have asked for anything better than this.

Wow, this is beautiful You've captured their personalities exactly--Duck's quiet matter-of-factness and Buddy's idealistic pragmatism.

He wanted his mother to say it was okay for him not to be a cop. That she’d always known he wanted to be something different.

I've always wondered about Buddy's relationship with his mother and this is a great take on it. Just from this little bit I can start to imagine what it must have been like for Carol to have to deal with her.

Duck's reason for getting sober feels real, kind of a rock-bottom for him. Good stuffs. *g*

So glad you liked it, and thank you for letting me know. I love Wilby Wonderful, and I love the idea of these two having had a past of some sort. I'm quite intrigued by who Duck might have once been when he was drinking and, yeah, Buddy's relationship with his mother is another thing that gets me thinking.

Thanks again for the feedback.
