Hey Kris! If you switch companies you can keep your old phone number, from what I've heard. I know though that everything you download will be lost. Laura changed phone twice and she lost all of her ringtones and everything!

I have the new Nokia flip phone and it has a recorder... so I just record songs and put them as my ringtone! saves a lot of money!!
