Thank you so much! I'm a Sammy girl (though I love both brothers) so it's great to hear you say I write him well. More soon.

I know I reviewed over at ff.net, but really...I love this piece. It so needs to be written and dealt with--and you're doing it great justice. We never understand how we influence those around us. How even despite pain we may bring, we may also bring goodness. And that's a scary and reassuring thing all at once.

This is so true, Faye. We really don't see--or rarely do--how our actions affect those around us. Sam has seen so much pain result from his life, it has to weigh heavily on him. Like you, I wish we'd see more of that. But that's the great thing about fanfic, right?

Thank you for your lovely feedback. I'm really glad you're enjoying this.

both of those prompts were mine...

...and so far WOW!!! It does make me wonder if Sam ever wished he had died in the fire instead of his mother??!! It is so sweet that Sam kept something of his dad's that he takes out once in a while to be closer to his father.

Can't wait for the rest!!

"Close your eyes."

"Why?"

She huffed, the sound half amusement, half exasperation. "You must have driven your father crazy. Just do it."
I find this very amusing! I can just imagine Sammy as one of those kids who kept asking, 'Why-How etc..'.

Hey! These were both yours? Cool!

I have to apologize for combining the two prompts--I hope you don't mind. I ran out of time, and since I was planning to have either Mary or Jess be the spirit visiting Sam, I figured it could easily accomodate both.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm glad you think I'm doing this justice. Hope you like the rest--more soon.

Oh wow when I saw you wrote another fic, I got so excited. This is like another Christmas gift. I love the whole concept of what it would be like if Sam had died in the fire. I often thought about how Sam must sometimes think his family would have been better off without him. I’m so happy Mary is his guide too. Poor Sam hardly had any interaction with his mom, so it’s nice to see Mary showing him the way.

I love how you wrote the effect baby Sam’s death had on Mary. Poor Sam didn’t realize what his death would have done to his mom. She would have felt like she failed to protect him and it would have killed her anyway. Mary did what she wanted for Sam and she feels like she succeeded in her duty as a mother. Mary doesn’t have regrets about what happened, even though Sam might regret that she died in the fire.

For some reason I thought the second part was up too, and I was like, Oh no! That’s it? I am dying to read more now. Amazing job and I can’t wait to see what happens next. :)

Does it sound mean if I say I'm glad I'm making your heart hurt? :) There's a lot of deep emotion in a fic like this. I'm happy you're feeling it. Thanks for the feedback.
