Thank you. Yep, that seems to be the way for the Winchester boys. It always gets worse before it gets better...

Poor Sam! Just when you think he’s finally going to catch a break … But that’s how it is with the Winchesters. Things usually get much, much worse before they get better.

Favorite lines:

There was a crack in the ceiling that looked disturbingly like George Bush.

LOL! Great opening line. I love its random weirdness.

If his chin dipped toward his chest, he’d snap up his head and glare wide-eyed at the dark ribbon of road, fighting sleep with a tenacity that seemed to hold more than a little desperation.

Poor Sam, so desperate to avoid more nightmares and bad memories.

and covered him with a blanket as if he were four again and worn out from a hard day of play.

First of all: Blankie love! Yay! Second: Aww, I love the image of 4-year-old Sam worn out from playing.

Dean leaned over and laid a hand on his brother’s shoulder. It was a trick he’d picked up when they were kids, a way of using warmth and touch to short-circuit a nightmare without waking Sam. And just like the little boy he’d been, Sam stilled, his brow smoothing and ( ... )

Thank you, ma'am. Considering how hard it was to just get this chapter written, I'm glad it worked so well for you. Hopefully the next one will go much more quickly. *crosses fingers*

Blankie love for my beta. :) And yes, you gotta love that overgrown toddler-Sam image.

I can't believe I missed this until now. You write the boys so well, and I love the emotional tension of this fic--and that you let the possession linger with Sam. You really would think he'd have some kind of psychological scarring for what he experienced, and I love how much of an impact it's having. And I'm curious to know what's going on...Sam's remembering things not quite as they are, he's angsting, and Dean's not getting any sleep. Makes for an interesting situation :)

Aw, thanks, Faye. I'm glad you like what I've got so far. This was going to be a shorter fic, but it took a turn. Buckle up, 'cause there's bumpy roads ahead!
