I say give it to him, you explained your position and if you were being 100% up front during that explanation, give him the gift inspired by him. It's his choice to make how he takes it, and if he's smart at all, he'll be flattered, not scared.

Thanks alot. I needed some kind words. I just don't want ot lose my friendship with him over something as silly as this. Has this happened to you? Did you lose your friend?
