Ryanair are cheaper than bmibaby, to be honest. And I've heard the same stories about people having problems with bmibaby as I have Ryanair. I've never had any problems with Ryanair. Though admittedly that is now because I know people in Nottingham and thus had somewhere to sleep when the pilot exploded last week :)
