so these last few days at work, i've been feeling intense pain in my right forearm/wrist/hand. i was kinda thinking to myself this isn't good...i know what this is but i'm gonna just deny it cuz denial is much much easier... i explained my pain to one of my work friends, and she's like, sunny, that's how it was when my carpal tunnel first started ( Read more... )

carpal tunnel - do you have one of thos pads that goes under your wrists when you type because that is supposed to help. Also, and this is from my very first piano teacher when I was four, but it applies to typing as well. Pretend that your hands are garages and there are really nice cars in them. So if you drop your wrists down, you're crushing your car. Point being you shouldn't rest the heels of your hands down while you are typing.

haha, at least THEIR first gig wasn't at an a cappella competition...that was a rough time...

Amen to that!

maybe you should wear the brace while at work too. that's what my friend julia did when her wrist bothered her at the tender age of 19... she also went to physical therapy at UHS. at any rate, maybe you should get it checked out. but yeah, sometimes my wrist hurts too, and my back and feet too. argh. and i found a wrinkle on my face last night :( it's ok, we will age gracefully ;)

EW!! take it off before you go to the bathroom! do you want to get pee on it?? hahahahah. unless it really hurts your wrist to wipe or something....? then you should probably learn to wipe with your other hand (a skill i have not obtained myself).

you know what, actually it's usually my LEFT wrist that hurts. which doesn't make sense at first, because i'm right-handed. but i realized that i subconsciously "delegate" the more... uh... "labor-intensive" (???) tasks to my left hand most of the time, like lifting heavy things or opening jars. i guess this is to protect my beautiful writing/drawing instrument.

hm, that's interesting. i guess wiping is labor-intensive too. depends on your dump. eeeek!!

i think my right wrist hurts the most cuz that's what i use to do intricate motions, like moving my computer mouse, turning handles, etc. poor lil wrist :(

one skill i really wanna master (but probably never will) is using chopsticks with my left hand.
