You covered most of what I already knew. The only thing I'm still confused about is how to make a post like this. I keep seeing people making them but I can't figure it out.

That's a "question" post. Basically, when you post a text post, and end with a question mark (ex: "Did anyone see The Office last night?"), the advanced options (the left, grey box area) will have a check box pop up that says "allow people to answer?"

It's kind of hard to explain, but here's what it looks like
