Aww,I'm sure we'll here from you again. But viruses are scary! If you can get on the internet at all that's good.

I find Malwarebytes Anti-Malware helpful. And also a friend just sitting in the room while you try and fix or just to bounce ideas off of it is good moral support.

It's so weird! I have Norton anti-virus! I have Malware Bytes and Super AntiSpyware! I run these things! So maybe it's not a virus? But then I've seen that windows doesn't warn you when your harddrive fails, it just kind of dies, so I don't know what to think and it's terrible.

*hugs*

Commencing evasive maneuvers now!

Maybe your hard drive really is failing and it's not a virus? How old is the computer?

I'd google any messages you are getting exactly and see what others on the 'net have found.

Google is your friend in these situations. It does seem weird!

Yeah, it's looking more like my harddrive is failing. I googled the hell out of it, and stuff came up, but nothing was exactly on the nose? And the screens I'm getting at start up include links direct to hp.com, so it could absolutely be the harddrive. This computer isn't even two years old, though. Arg.

If you get really stuck, and you've managed to get everything vital on your PC backed up, could you format it and reinstall Windows? Do you have the ability to do that? It's a pain in the ass, but it might mean your laptop runs better anyhow. If you don't have the ability to reinstall, though, or you can't back everything up first, don't touch it.

I have no idea how to go about formatting/reinstalling windows! I have the recovery discs, but I thought those were for use if like, you needed to get a new harddrive (like now.)

You can use them to kind of clean out your pc and get it back to the way it was when you bought it, (minus wear and tear and all that), but it's a pain in the ass, so I wouldn't do it if you're unsure, unless you can find someone who knows what they're doing to help you out. If it's actually a failing harddrive, it won't help anyway.

Yeah, I figured that they'd be no use (but I might need them when I get the harddrive? Or something?)

And I appreciate your appropriate icons!

Norton is actually not that great of an anti-virus program, compared to some of the free/shareware you can download.

If you're able to download things, you should really try Avast. This is the program that helped save my poor netbook.

:( That makes me so sad, considering my parents paid for it and everything.

I probably won't download anything to this, since I'm about 95% that I need a new harddrive anyway, but I will keep that in mind for the future.

I know, I had to learn the hard way, too. :(

I hope everything works out for you and your laptop. *HUGS*

Man, you've been having the worst luck with these things. I was going to recommend Malware Bytes because I've seen it get things that everything else missed, but I guess you are already aware of this.

I'm not doing too hot, no! Hopefully I can survive until I get a new one. *crosses fingers*
