I really hate doing the whole "this is such a pet peeve" of mine thing. Generally, I find the idea of telling people how you have or might bother them a little annoying in and of itself, yanno? But sometimes you just really fucking need to vent.

I'd say so. If you create art solely because you like it, then you certainly should! ...But you shouldn't open it up for public display or criticism.
I don't agree with that at all. Anything I do artistically is for me first. This doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to or can't open it up for public display. Or even that displaying can't be part of the process. It's just that I put my personal satisfaction at the forefront. Writers tend not to share things until they're happy with it first. I see it much the same way.
People are certainly allowed to think what they'd like to. I fully respect opinions that differ from my own, whether or not I agree with them. Trust me, the reality that I'll have to deal with this should I ever hope to 'make it' has not escaped me. That does not, however, mean I'm not allowed to be irritated/annoyed/whatever with what they say. Or even how they say it. Which is what this post was ultimately about.
