haha, i've survived two years of science before this dear, not doing too well in the end though; a nice a, b and c, heh.
actually, why i'm doing this is because the sciences are in english and right now at tutes, the facts are much easier to memorise and somehow the concepts easier to grasp. also, my mum is convinced that i AM cut out for science - according to her, the only reason why i 'did so badly' was because i was 'involved in too many things' ... quite true, but oh well.
i'm hoping i'll come out of form 6 with some of my sanity left, and yes, damn the education people! arts in form 6 should be stuff like english literature /communications/law/whatever! ahh well :( wish me luck tiara, there's no getting out of this, registration's tomorrow and i'll just have to make the best of it.
(says the girl going to uni to make her dad happy. har.)
My sister did science up to Ph.D. - she wanted to be an architect but got convinced out of it. Now she's having trouble finding a job, and she seems so much happier with her art (she's a super talented artist) and dance.
There is Eng Lit in STPM. Malay Lit too I think (I took Malay Lit for SPM). I believe there was something in the papers recently about how very few people end up taking Eng Lit for SPM/STPM because nobody wanted to teach it - my experience: only my friend and I were willing to take the class! aiyo.
Ya know, you can always take a foundation year before you decide whether you wanna take mass communication or corporate comm. That's the purpose of it. To give you some insight into both majors and let you decide which major you wanna take.
yes, i checked out the foundation year costs...Rm 17,000 for that alone at most colleges, not including expenses and accomodation, travel and all of that! my parents can afford it, but i feel really, really bad about it and therefore am opting for a cheaper 'foundation course' - form 6.
see, with form 6 i can skip foundation altogether and head straight into a degree at most colleges blah blah blah (i'm sure you know this full well from all the countless education expos they have nowadays) and save my parents money! even better if i can do mass comm at a public uni - though god help me, i have no idea of the quality of their lecturers.
thanks for the well wishes luq dear, and yes i'm doing fine. take care and all the best with your college endeavours yourself! :)
hey michelle, best of luck! I believe that there's pros and cons for everything, and really F6 is the "cheapest" option there is around before you truly make up your mind about what you want to do in your life.
i did think like you last time, that if I took science, I had the option of "changing" around and going into arts later if I wanted to. And in a way it's true, because I do have a lot of friends who took science and ended up doing things like writing in magazines or PR work and such...
HOWEVER... I do believe that in a way, it's a waste of time, and if you do know what you're truly, truly passionate about, then I don't think your parents would be mean enough to push you into something they know you're not happy in. :\
sorry about the lateness, the com has been down. and was it real nice to catch up on your blog again! hope to see you if i come down to s'ban mext week!
