To everyone who is/was/will be upset over the now seemingly infamous secret 152 in fandomsecrets:

Get over it. If someone was grossed out (for whatever reason) by that scene then let them. It's fandomsecrets, where does it say that you're supposed to take that place seriously? Also, you couldn't possibly expect everyone would enjoy that. There will always be people who ( Read more... )

Some people take fandom and tv way too serious. Just my POV

But this could technically be said about anyone who loves anything, you know? You could accuse a basketball player of taking basketball too seriously, or a painter of taking art too seriously. What's the difference if it's an activity you care and love?

If my ship is being handled crudely in a way that is insulting not only to the ship but also to the fans - and since fandom is an important activity to me, something I'm passionate for - I'm GOING to say something. It's GOING to piss me off.

But in this case, it happens that my BFF was insulted worst of all, and that is something I will never tolerate on even the days that I'll let the other stuff go.

Just my POV as well, of course. :)

I guess I just don't see the need of tripling my blood pressure over fandom. Fandom in general is 98% morons and I have this rule for myself that i 'do not communicate with lower lifeforms' and that applies to fandom 9.5 out of 10 times.

Fandom is a lovely place, actually. You just need to know what parts of it to involve yourself in. And because I'm a part of some great groups of people, I know that there's way more than morons involved in fandom. There's some really lovely, talented, genuine people who are there because they love what you love so much, and I find it incredibly rewarding to surround yourself with them and share in the flails (and yes, even the emos at times).

I guess I disagree only because, I was always taught to fight for things I'm passionate for, and who the hell cares if that's a television couple? Fandom is important to me. Adama/Roslin is important to me. And I totally, totally understand and accept wholeheartedly that not everyone will love my ships. But that's not even the point here (for me)

A) This person severely bashed on crazyvictoria who is my BFF, the love of my life, my bb...and I will NOT tolerate that.

B) This person not only bashed on my BFF but they bashed her with untrue insults that have no ground (i.e. she obnoxiously brings Adama/Roslin into generic BSG communities and is a batshit fan, when, in reality, she keeps her flailings to her JOURNAL).

So while I was upset that my OTP was handled so rudely and in a way that offended and insulted the fans for loving them so much, for me this was more being protective of someone I love and care about.

Mess with my friends, it's airlock time.

Well ok, fine. It's kinda weird to drag someone into and insult them for no reason...but again. it's fandomsecrets, at what point did you think that was going to be a classy place, with mature people?

I...never did. In fact, I've never even posted at that place until today for that reason. Where are you getting this from, dude?

Maybe I'm a moron in that 98%, but God, I love my ship and I love my Britt (crazyvictoria). You've made it clear you think taking fandom seriously is silly; I'm completely opposite. I love my fandom because, God, if I had never been so involved with fandom I would never have met the people that I have. Some of my best friends are from fandom, some people that I honestly couldn't live without. It's important to me like music is important to a musician.

I just...whatever. I'm sick, running a fever, and I'm tired of doing this.

Ugh, seriously, it's not like fandomsecrets is anything BUT wankstirring in the first place.

yeah, pretty much. It feeds of off people's reactions. If no one got upset over anything that was posted there it would've been nowhere near as popular as it is now.

EXACTLY. In practice it doesn't act as a confessional, I'd bet more than half those secrets are put in there to incite upset fans into arguments. Angry A/R shippers are exactly what whoever posted the secret wanted-- why bother feeding the fire and getting worked up over some anonymous jerk?
