Frankenstein Mix

Mar 08, 2006 22:41

It's my Frankenstein Mix, made for calikali's Frankenstein Mix Meme. And you do not want to know how long this took me, what with YSI being a little bitch and my laptop overheating every 20 minutes. OY! All songs are mp3 format and through YSI. I hope everything works!
01. A song that wakes you up in the morning.
One of my favourite ever songs, from one of my favourite albums from one of my favourite groups. It's so upbeat. It can wake me up, perk me up or persuade me that murder is not the best solution when I'm stressed.
Erasure - Yahoo!

02. A song you loved in high school.
Child of the 80s here. This was a hard choice. I'm fairly sure I spent enough money through Columbia House that I could have retired at age 20 if I wasn't a music fiend. So I went to my 80s Playlist, closed my eyes and clicked the mouse. Voila, Marillion. Bought their whole crappy album just for this song. Seems appropriate.
Marillion - Kayleigh

03. A song that mentions a dead celebrity.
Unoriginal I guess, but the only one that popped into my head that I could find on my hard drive. Bonus points for several dead celebrities maybe?
Madonna - Vogue

04. A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother.
My grandmother is practically deaf and doesn't speak English as a first language, but I think she might understand the opening lyrics of this song. :)
Hawksley Workman - We Will Still Need A Song

05. A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years.
Hmmm, hard one. I haven't watched MTV in eons, I don't know what they play anymore. But I'm fairly sure this is a safe bet.
Clicky clicky - hee

06. A song with a title that ends in y.
Lovely song, lovely voice.
Sarah Vaughan - It's De-Lovely

07. A song that makes you crave something.
Especially the beginning, but this song desperately makes me want to roadtrip in a convertible. Can't find my CD so I had to d/l a copy, seems pretty clear though.
Van Morrison - Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile)

08. A cover song that you think is better than the original.
I had a couple of choices here, but since I didn't see it posted already, I had to go with Cash. I don't dislike the NIN version, but this is so gorgeous and haunting.
Johnny Cash - Hurt

09. The original of #8.
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt

10. A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP.
It's very prissy Buffy/sassy Spike and it makes me smile. Plus Spike could totally rock the Adam Ant eyeliner.
Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes

11. You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song.
Not just mouthing but actively singing, even the "rap" parts. Also there is usually dancing. I love this song to an unhealthy degree.
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - Good Vibrations

12. A song that will always make you think of a movie.
From Bring It On, only the greatest cheerleading movie ever created.
Blacque - As If

13. A song that should totally have fic written about it.
I'm not sure I exactly understand the point, but here's one with interesting story-lyrics. Plus it's not decades old like most of my choices.
Magneta Lane - The Constant Lover

14. A song you wish they'd play in elevators.
You could basically put any Zeppelin song (except Stairway which I don't like and which they do play) here, but I chose Kashmir. Just because.
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir

15. You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands.
It's a new favourite, but ye gods and little fishes I LOVE this song.
Luce - In The Middle There
