While crunchpod and I were out for an errand in the city, I got a call from my surgeon checking on me. I told her although I was a bit sore likely from all of the poking and prodding yesterday, I was far better and nearly pain-free. She apparently got the opinion from 2 other radiologists who reviewed my CT and Ultrasound and everyone insists I have

Maybe they're trying to meet their surgery quota for the month.

Makes one wonder, doesn't it? Or...as I'm thinking, it is just a protocol that surgeons have been taught over the years as well as their fear of covering their asses=liability.

The liability thing would be my guess (as well as collecting that sweet $20K from the surgery!). They probably figure they are less likely to get sued if they do the appendectomy instead of letting it go and risk it getting worse.
