At our library here they get new releases as soon as they are published. There is usually quite the long waiting list because people go online to the library website to see if the book is going to be arriving at the library then put there name on the waiting list, but I think the library does a great job of buying/ordering, whatever they do, a good number of books depending on how long the waiting list is and also limiting new arrivals to 2 weeks and not allowing renewals on new arrivals until they have been out for like a month or something. I usually don't have to wait more then 2 weeks for a new arrival/just published book, usually less. I highly recommend the library! :)

I am library-obsessed. I belong to the New York Public Library and the Queensborough Public Library, here in NYC. Anna's right. They usually get new releases quickly, but you have to wait a while to read them. Learn how your library's online reservation system works and use it. I actually use it to reserve books that aren't even new releases. Then I don't waste a trip to the library to find that branch doesn't have my book, or that the copy is out. When I get my email notification, I just walk to the library and get what they're holding for me ( ... )

I agree about the library reservation system, because here I may be looking for a book and it is in another library, so when they notify you it is there waiting for you. Good point!

Thanks ladies!!! I will DEFINITELY check out the library this week. Now if I could just find a way to make some money off the books I've already read but am not attached to... haha!

There are a ton of used book stores that will give you money or trade-ins for old books! If you're not interested in making money though, a lot of libraries will take donations. The one near me actually sells donated books online, and uses the money to buy more new releases, etc.
