Okay, so we all know that I'm not really down with the whole Christmas holiday season... and neither are my parents. Typically, my dad and stepmum travel over the holiday, and guess where we're going this year

i think i'm more excited about the food than anything else. :-P i can drink alcohol anywhere, but the best cajun and creole food is definitely there...

ugh, bad things tend to happen at christmas - both my grandmas died within 5 days of the holiday, and numerous family members have gotten hospital-serious sick, and ever since, i approach the holiday season with trepidation. my dad can't even stand to be in da 'burgh for that week between x-mas and new year's, and since his ma died in '92, him and my step-mom take a vacation every year to somewhere else. i started joining in on the trips in 2001...

I love New Orleans!!! I really, really, really do. My family went there on vacation once and I fell instantly in love with the city, then we had to leave because Dad's unit got called up for Desert Storm I. I'm gonna go back there someday. It's truly magical.

will do! i've actually never had a beignet before, even though i've made several trips (one of my best friends from college lives in the garden district)....hmmm, new food, so i'm excited!
