I got an interesting thing in the mail today. it came from the u.s. department of education. which was immediately intriguing. I couldn't think of anything that I'd done that would interest the d.o.e. For that matter, I was hard-pressed to think of anything anyone could do that was interest them. i got one too, yesterday. except, i thought it was something useless and didnt even open it until i walked into government today and mr. foster leapt up with a "CONGRATULATIONS!"

there is a little box on the application which talks about how the government isnt allowed to require people to fill out forms which are unnecessarily burdensome or long. their justification for this application is that it takes (on average) a mere 16 hours.

i dont understand how i got it and other people didnt, if its based entirely upon act/sat. i got a 34, but jason got a 1550, adam gardener got a 1560(ish), kelly and jane both did really well, etc. i dont know. christina ayers and holly palmer also got it.)

it would be fantastic if you and i got to tour dc together. statistically improbable, but a really cool idea.
