Notes: This is my first fic, I was in the mood so I wrote it, It includes !WEE Winchesters. I'm not to sure if all this time line stuff is right and if all of this is possible, if it isn't feel free to infrom me, but this story doesn't rely to much on that.
Dean pulled the bill of the table. It was rare that they were ever let out. It was a sense of relief when Dean got the chance to get out of the cramped space. Trying to keep Sam’s innocence alive for as long as he could, wasn’t the easiest thing. He gazed over at him.
“Hey Sam,” Dean looked down at the ten dollar bill again, “We’ve got to pick up some groceries, come on, go get ready.”
Sam looked away from the T.V., his eyes had a bright glaze instead of a dull bored look. Dean saw Sam’s jaw tighten for a minute.
“Daddy says we can’t leave.” Sam stated, he looked back at the T.V. immediately.
Dean face fell a little. “Great...When we’ve got the chance to get out for a bit, he won’t move. But when we can’t, he’s plotting for a way out...”
Dean rolled his eyes, “Dad says we can just go out to get some milk and stuff, we’ll be back soon.”
Sam didn’t turn to Dean. He was looking off somewhere, he was always doing that, as if he was looking for something, but couldn’t find it. Dean was tortured every day to see Sam in such a state, he was lost and couldn’t be found, the only thing Dean could do was protect him and try to push back into the world he never wanted to be apart of.
“Do you not trust me Sammy?” questioned Dean, he knew he had gotten through when he saw Sam’s eyes lower, “I’d never go against anything Dad said Sam, so get ready.” Dean tone hardened with his last three words.
Sam’s eyes were opposed to the command. That puzzled Dean. Sam shuffled his feet, his brown waves fell onto his face. He got up and went into the bedroom, he grabbed a hold of the door knob with both of his small hands and closed the door. Dean shifted the weight from one foot to another as he waited patiently. He softly nudged the bag of salt by the door with his foot. The bedroom door creaked open.
“Ready.”
Sam had on his good jeans and a collared shirt, he had his grubby hoodie that he insisted on wearing everywhere over top. His hair was combed back to one side. Dean couldn’t help but smile a little.
“Come on Sammy,” he watched Sam taking small little trudges towards the door, “And why does it take you so long to get ready?” he asked when Sam arrived beside him.
Sam blushed, he lowered his head, and muttered something that Dean didn’t catch. Sam kept his head down so low that his neatly combed hair fell back into his face. Sam gave up and pushed it back.
It was a nice warm day. Everyone seemed to be bustled outside. Dean and Sam had begun to forget such a scene. They came to a street, across the street was the small convenience store, crammed between a burger joint and a liquor store. Dean was a little unsure for a moment to take hold of Sam’s hand, he didn’t hesitate for long. He told a hold of Sam’s tiny hand into his. Sam’s hand was so soft, Dean realized how dry and chapped his was.
Sam looked up at Dean. He knew he gave him a hard time. He never knew exactly why he did it. Sometimes to see the little bit of disappointment in John’s eyes. But it didn’t feel as good as he always thought it would. Soldiers don’t bruise easy, but when they are, the scar never goes away.
When they got to the other side, Dean was in front of Sam, tugging him behind. He could feel Sam’s walking slower, his hand was being pulled. Dean turned back around.
“Sam.” Dean groaned, annoyed.
Sam’s eyes were glued and focused to the display at a near by hobby store.
“Dean, look! It’s a model plan!” he pointed his petit finger over at the store, “Can we please get it?” pleaded Sam. Sam’s mouth was in a hopeful frown, he knew what the answer was.
Dean looked back over at the convenience store, he sighed and looked back at Sam.
“No Sam.” Dean answered firmly.
Sam didn’t take the answer as well as he thought he would.
“Why? It’s only five dollars!”
“Dad bought you a rifle like 2 days ago!”
“But it’s boring Dean! Please?” Sam’s voice fell quiet.
Dean wasn’t in the mood to be objective.
“We can’t get it, we have to get groceries, we can go look after.” Dean took a hold of Sam’s hand and entered the store.
Sam wasn’t pleased. He let go of Dean’s hand. Dean felt the sting of Sam’s action and he knew that’s what Sam meant to do. Sam didn’t understand enough to feel too much remorse. Dean ignored it.
A few minutes after browsing through the aisles without any luck finding rock salt, Dean went to the counter to pay. He noticed that Sam was wandering around the other aisles as he was grabbing some milk. He thought it would be better to leave him alone.
“That’s five dollars please.” said the cashier.
Dean laid the bill on the table and retrieved his change. He took the bag and went through the aisle looking for Sam. Dean’s chest felt heavy when after he looked through the first 3 aisles he couldn’t see Sam. Then after the next 2 he felt his stomach drop, and after last aisle, Dean was in full panic mode.
He called out Sam’s name twice. Loud enough for him Sam to be able to hear, but not loud enough to disturb anyone in the shop.
Dean raced outside, his cheek bones hurt from holding his breath. He breathed out heavily, almost letting out tears. Oh god, where is he?!?.
He lowered his eyes to see, a tiny boy pressed up to the window of the toy store. He could see the shaggy brown waves from the back of Sam as he sped towards him. Dean couldn’t remember ever running so fast. Sam had his hand pressed up to the window, his nose touched the glass. Dean pulled Sam off the window. Sam’s hands left little prints on the glass.
“Don’t you ever do that again! You hear?” Dean pulled Sam into his chest and put his arms around him. He could feel Sam’s warm breath on him. For just one moment, Sam’s breath shuddered, and just for one moment he felt Sam lean into him. Dean pulled in his arms tighter around Sam.
Dean was panting. He pulled Sam away from him and put his hands on his shoulders. Sam’s eyes were filled with pure innocence and nothing else.
“I’m really sorry I scared you Dean.” Sam turned back to the display for a moment.
Dean shook his head. He pulled out the change from his pocket.
“Here, go buy your stupid plane.”
