Got a real soft spot in my heart for---sjowall1452May 11 2009, 05:27:51 UTC
1) "Dead of Night," (1945)--esp. the segment with Michael Redgrave in it. (It's a series of five stories--which start out to be about premonition dreams that came true, and end with the Redgrave bit--about a ventriloquist who is ruled by his dummy (later taken by Anthony Hopkins' "Magic,"--I think the director of "Magic" gave credit to the DofN episode). There's an incredible frame around all of them. (Had a funny experience seeing this in a re-run theater in the 890s. Most of the action is in one room, and 5 of the 6 people are smoking--all but the young girl. After a while, the air gets so thick with smoke, you have a hard time seeing the actors' faces. the audience tittered.) 2) "Angel Heart" (80s-90s). Goes the Oedipus story one better. Mickey Rourke and Robert DeNiro. 3) "The Silence of the Lambs" Guess you've seen THAT one!
