Thanks so much for setting up this group alelie!  I will have to let my sister in law know about it as well.

Just to get things started off, I was first recommended this book by my graduate advisor and have been so grateful ever since.  I was so thrilled to learn how to make my own yogurt from this book--I would reference the page number, but mine ( Read more... )

Hahahaha! You joined the community before I did!! I went to my friends page to see my first superbaby_food post and couldn't figure out why it wasn't showing up!

Awesome! I have a question for you! Where do you get your yogurt starter? Do you just use the add a tablespoon or two of yogurt method? I read that doing that tends to make it more tart which I have a hard time getting Rebekah to eat, so I haven't tried it that way. I am still looking for a "starter" at the store. I've found the kind that goes in yogurt machines, but no one can tell me if works the same way or not.

Though quite basic, I think the favorite thing I've learned so far is the cube method. It saved me so much money and it was so satisfying to have all that fresh, healthy food in the fridge for her. I didn't know the frozen vegetables could taste so good! (I didn't understand the concept of commercial flash freezing, I guess.) I like making super flour and putting it into my No-knead bread. My toddler and especially baby love it! I make yogurt, too and it is a little tart... I use my mom's recipe and add powdered milk for more calcium. It's very easy! I want to make more sprouts now and need to look at the book again for more good healthy ideas. It's packed with good info.
