Bullying

Bullying is endemic in our schools. In fact, it is endemic in our society. According to Evelyn M Field on her website Bully Blocking, "Around the world, more than one in six children are bullied at school, every week. I would argue that our whole social, political and economic system is adverserial and competitive. What follows from that is not respect, not co operation, but abuse of power, aggression, and so on.

Until the very fundamentals of our society move to one of co operation, we will almost certainly continue to see bullying.

I think you are very right. We are seeing more competition and, in the US and western Europe, more economic insecurity than we have for eighty years. So there are more losers. Nazi Germany arose in similar conditions and surely it was none other than bullying on a grand scale.
