today, passing some students on my way back from grabbing my second dose of odwalla, i saw a sign that has been popping up on campus "support ron paul: hope for america, 2008." there had been a few chalked messages that purported that mr. dr. (but we'll get to that later) paul is a big supporter of the constitution, limited government interference, anti-war, blah blah blah.
so i decided to check into this ron paul guy and discovered that he is no different from the rest of the republicans except that he voted against the patriot act and the iraq war. whoopdeefuckindoo. but make no mistake, he's a texas republican through and through.
he is anti immigrant. outpacing his cronies, he actually
supported repealing birthright citizenship for immigrant children, a right granted by the fourteenth amendment of that constitution he so vehemently rallies around.
he is anti-environmentalist. he voted
against increasing gas mileage standards, pushed for
new offshore drilling and
allowing drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, he's against the Kyoto treaty and has referred to it as
"bad science." this man's veins have oil running through them, sweet black gold, not blood.
he does not have your civil rights as firmly in mind as he'd like you to think. he voted against
reauthorizing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a move probably motivated by his
intense racism towards non-white people, but
black people in particular. though he doesn't believe that he's as racist as david duke, he sure does think everyone else (read: non white) is, saying, "the advocates of so-called 'diversity' actually perpetuate racism. Their intense focus on race is inherently racist, because it views individuals only as members of racial groups." ah, nothing like blaming the victims, eh ronnie?
he hates the queers and doesn't want them to
get married, be able to
adopt children, nor does he want them to be protected from workplace or housing discrimination. he doesn't want them pushing their "gay agenda" on this country period and further, has dyke-baited hilary clinton. (wtf?)
he wants to bridge that
constitutionally mandated separation between
church and
state.
he is practically hysterical about
universal healthcare, and pushes his free market economics bullshit whenever possible, pushing for further privatization of public services, and the
total abolishment of welfare.
how could it possibly get any worse? well, it does. this man is strongly opposed to abortion rights even though he's a licensed doctor. and guess what his specialty is? that's right,
obstetrics and gynecology. whee! isn't he a fun guy?
i could really go on and on and on. but if you would like to see more, and i know you do!check out:
dailykos (whom i usually find to be pretty sexist despite their leftist bent) and
wikipedia have extensive documentation/information and many links that i stole for this entry.
so, next time i see those deluded jerks setting up their ron paul table, i think i'll go right up to them and let them know
who ron paul
really is. and if you see them out on the internet pushing his so-called humanism, some political "revolution" he's going to supposedly foment, and other such falsehoods, please (please please please) tell them how deluded and wrong they are.
and without citation (though you're smart and i know you can find it), not to mention saving you some reading, i will also list some other things you should know.
1. has voted against stricter OSHA regulations and mine safety standards.
2. thinks that "the war on christmas" is a real thing.
3. hates unions
4. did i mention his free market proclivity
5. wants the US to withdrawal from the United Nations and NATO
6. opposes campaign finance reform
these are just a few happy little things to think about when you see people (even supposedly progressives) pushing this guy.
FUCK RON PAUL
