It's always been a popularity contest monkeypudding September 5 2006, 17:27:11 UTC
But we are attempting to come up with a better way to accomodate as many people as possible who want to slam.

Such as...if we have more than 1o people who want to read on a given Monday, everyone's name goes in the beer jug and we randomly pull out the ten names for that night. Rather than have a rush to the sign up sheet at 8 o'clock.

In the "old days" when I wasn't help organize the event the same thing happened to me countless times. That is showing up too late and not getting to read.

showing up late is one thing... being there at eight is another...I was there on time and just missed the last slot

also the hat thing kind of sucks cause it is nice to be prepared to slam... or to be able to make alternate plans (last monday i went to the beach when i couldn't get on the list)

why not axe the open mic and open up a few more slots? there are lots of open mics out there... or why not have 3 slams a month???

As someone who wants to slam seriously... it is a real let down to not get on the list... i planned and prepared all week for that

grrr... so true...

they have always had that popularity contest feel... to me

which is the only reason i gop back... to slam the hell out of that 'tude... if that makes sense at all...

good poetry will triumph in the end... and next time i'm going to be there at seven... waiting for that list... RAWR
