i emailed you a long time ago admiring your emerald chess set. Found the picture I saved and am enjoying it again.

So I joined this livejournal thing just so I could comment. I really like your chess set.

I took some ceramics classes in college years ago and loved it. But never managed to get a studio of any sort set up for myself. I used to have a backyard where I would try firing stuff in open firepits - really crude stuff...

I made a chess set out of "dryer lint clay" found the recipe online somewhere - it's a pretty neat set. Haven't made a chessboard yet.

Is your chessboard made from one big slab or individual tiles?

I wonder about trying to fire something like that in a barbeque...it would be really uneven heat, but it might work okay right?

the chess set is one big slag that i sectioned out into the normal 8x8 chess board.
