I was taught that babtisim is an outward showing of ones faith in god, usually you choose to be batized after you get saved. i'm sure it means something dioffrent to any religion that preforms babtisims.

Just giving you my views from the way I was taught.

Yeah, we Lutherans view it differently. We see it as a means of grace, something that saves you not something that you do because you were saved. So whether to do it to a child or not is a big debate.

But since it's clearly not symbolism, nor is it anything we do, it's something God is doing for us, understanding has little to do with it. Not to mention baptism is the fulfillment of the OT practice of circumcision. Paul even acknowledges that in Collosians 2. And circumcision was done on the 8th day of a boy's life whether he consented or not.

Okay...Babies are not capable of sin and are considered to be relatively sin free for atleast a few years...Sooo my view is that the child should choose after choosing their path. Brenna is very obviously leaning to christianity.....Soooo... But you know my views since you guys nearly got killed after badgering me to baptize Ren about 3million times at CUW. lol

We're all born into sin. Original sin comes with being human. Last I checked, the only human born without sin is Christ himself.
