See, therein lies some of the spooky freedom of not being on your friendslist. I never was, so I don't have to worry about not making the cut.

Every day is a challenge. And prefer to face my challenges with artsty pictures of women, wineglasses, and fruit.

Hmm... well as I mentioned on my lj today I have been a verrrrrrrrry bad photographer of late, but I am in a writing mood, so I hope I don't get purged. Plus eventually I will steal back the computer that has photoshop on it and do more things, promish.

Oh, great. Can we expect a snide, image-based, friends-only proclamation soon?

I learned everything I know from I CLAUDIUS. I imagine that your own Claudius would find this TV series very interesting. Even an unloved and often-mocked appurtenance can become Caesar.

But even then, it's only thanks to the machinations of his sick, power-fucking brazil nut of an aunt, Livia.

"I, Claudius" is just about the finest historical novel ever written (and I've read a shedload, both for pleasure and academic purposes) all others are pale imitations. Robert Graves was not just a top-hole novelist but the finest English love-poet of the 20th Century. I don't mean to diss the Beeb production, which was fabulous, and extremely memorable, but if you haven't read the book, and its sequel "Claudius the God" you are missing a treat.

I'm afraid the drama can't really convey the book's pervading atmosphere of menace in the Roman Imperial household, and tends to reduce the atrocities to comic farce.

Or maybe I just have a sick sense of humour...

Personally, I have no problems with this. I use this as a personal blog, and I am not worried if you don't friend me. I just like reading what you have to say.
