I just finished watching The Breakfast Club, sort of for the hell of it but secretly hoping that it might be just a little profound. No dice. It was pretty out there how the Emilio Estevez character gets ridiculously energetic (doing cartwheels, jumping over bookshelves, furiously playing air guitar) after smoking pot, though. I heard that the Simple Minds' lead singer hated that song, and thought it was incredibly trite and simplistic. I imagine its popularity was like citrus-flavored salt for that wound.

I just added your journal to those I watch so now I am going through and making blathering pointelss comments on a bunch of your posts:

Blasphemy! I love the breakfast club! First, the music is obvioulsy great. Second, it deals with these hillarious caricatures of teens of the period. Third, the pot part is ridiculously funny. And finally, for me the film is more about expreimenting with the roles/personas these teenagers create for themselves than about anyone learning any life lessons in particular. Ah geez, and how the goth girl has the giant purse of random crap...that is classic.
