love unexpected days off. I always get so much done (or get nothing done but still feel really good about it). I hear you on the writing this year though; I feel like I've been pretty useless this year where my projects are concerned. All of them: including the book and scarf of yours that I've been holding hostage. I like to tell myself it's because I've had a lot of other stuff going on, but then I remember that Stephen King wrote Carrie when he was working two jobs and raising a bunch of kids (and nursing a coke habit; but whatever). So yeah.
You can consider it a NaNoWriMo planning party tomorrow, because I've got the day off and I'll be working on prep for my November novel too. Solidarity!
Are you no longer using your LJ account anymore or something? Or are you just too lazy to log on?
Well Stephen King is very special. It's like being mad about not practicing piano enough by going, "Well Mozart composed a symphony by the time he was 5."
Let's bitch about plot holes together! And how boring outlines are. Right now I've been staring at a blank word document and grabbing people on gchat to talk to me because I really cannot decide how I want my novel to go.
I'm just too lazy to log on. And I'm on my iPad, so it's an extra hassle to log on anyway.
Good point. Good point. I know it's really not productive to compare myself to established writers, but it's also hard not to do. Especially when I'm feeling SO LAZY and unproductive.
Bitching about plot holes sounds AWESOME. Because I have a couple of big ones. Outlines are the WORST. Except I know that as soon as I try to write a novel without one, I'll get 30K in and then fail miserably.
Are you working on an outline now? What kind of outline?
Yeah it makes you feel ashamed that you have so little discipline compared to these people.
Sometimes they're so hard to spot. You think you've got everything tied together and then someone goes, "uhhhh what about this obvious thing that is obvious?" and you just face palm.
I'm trying to work on it now. Or at least jot down what I want the basic story to be. I really want to do the one I was talking about earlier. An private detective comes back from assignment to find her partner brutally murdered and a girl requesting her help to find her kidnapped brother.
