Hello everyone!!!! Sorry my prompt is a little late :-/ Now as for the story being fictional, I was shocked that day we were in class to find out none of it was true. Obviously the author has a really strong writing technique because the story kind of pulled me in and made me believe that all of these things the soldiers were doing was true!!! Ya ... I was really shocked too when we found out that the story was fiction. Definetly does the writer have a really strong techinque for writing stories. To make people believe his stories are true means they have to seem accurate and portray the event really well. O'Brien does an excellent jopb with both of those two points. I would have to agree with you when you say part of it has to be true because the events and conditions in Vietnam were harsh. To tell ya the truth I never really thought of that, so that sheds some new light on the book for me. Well byebye.

I was kinda shocked too when I found out that it wasn't real. the stories seem so real though. now i kinda dont like it because i want to know if there is some truth to the stories. But you sometimes do relate to the characters and events that happen in the story. Happy New Year to you too!!!!!!

I wasnt really all that shocked when i found out... i mean, some of the things in his stories are a little far-fetched. The way he wrote was a little deceitful tho... he tries to make u feel as if it was real, even if it isnt. Have an awesome new year, and gimme a call if u need something to do! ; )

ummm... ya its better when you find out that the book is fiction after you read it because the shock of it all creates such a great discussion topic! I liked the book the first time thru but now it just seems pointless. i mean i know some of it is true but knowing he is makin something up about such a deep and powerful subject just ticks me off!
