They lay there, wrapped in each other more than the bed sheets. All slow sighs and pleasured mumbles. Nick’s head rested where Joe’s shoulder met his neck, one leg sprawled between his brothers, enjoying the comfort of his current and familiar position. He thought back to when this all started. But met a wall. It wasn’t that he couldn’t remember when it had begun but more he couldn’t remember if it ever had. His curiosity got the better of him and he raised the question. Voice heavy from almost sleep.

"Hey Joe?"

The reply was slow and equally lethargic.

"Mmh, yeah Nicky?"

The older boy shifted a little to peer down at his brother, who in turn lifted his head to look at him.

"When did this… when did we … start?"

There was an edge to his voice, like he wasn’t sure what they had really existed. Joe sat up a bit more, leaning on one elbow, cupping his young lover’s cheek with his free hand, a reassurance that couldn’t be mistaken.

"The day you were born, baby brother, the day you were born."

Lose and easy, but with so much meaning. A blush crept up Nick’s neck and onto his cheeks as he smiled shy and dipped his head. Joe bent his head down to meet Nick’s eyes, and with a practised precision brought their lips together. It was like all the other late night slow dance kisses, but this one held a promise of forever and through it all, a silent vow that would last them a lifetime. As they parted Nick settled back into place and Joe fell back onto the mattress. Both quiet, both happy. They drifted to sleep planting feather light kisses on any exposed flesh they could reach.

joick, drabble
