We have lived in three different countries, and had 14 different homes.

Only two homes made me seriously unhappy, the changes we have coped with make us stronger people, we married and went to New Zealand for a job when I was only 19 and husband 23.

So follow that dream, give yourself at least a year in a new place, and force yourself to look for the positives. Think of all those places you might want to see. If it doesn't live up to the dream so what? just have the bus fare home. Yes and renting is an option.

I own a home that I live in less than five weeks a year and not all at the same time - it's still worth it to have it in my head that I have a home, and to have a place to keep most of my stuff (I live out of a carry-on, all our checked bag slots go to company gear). My two roommates hold down the fort while I'm gone, mostly successfully but I have a cleaning woman and a handy man who stop in and take care of things. So it's not the smoothest or easiest process, but for me, it's worth it. I keep telling myself :) But really, it is.

And hey - it's a buyer's market right now!

Good luck, with whatever you choose. And you really capture that sense of longing and unsure-ness in your piece!

I like this and all, but... you enjoyed Oklahoma? I mean, Tulsa is great and I like OKC but for the most part you can have the rest. =)

Oh, well that's different =D

Of course, part of my distaste for OK was spending a year or so in Fort Sill (near Lawton) in the Army.

I moved around a lot between starting uni and finishing my PhD.. some moves were little, some were bigger. I wish I hada a little more permanance :-)

But i understand you on the itchy feet thing. I just sorta had the opportunity to get to try to negotiate a contract to stay where I am.. and I did the best I could. But part of me wants to go. *sigh* Good luck with whatever comes next.
