Chapter 4
Jin was flipping through channels in the living room, and he was just starting to feel hungry, when he heard the front door open and close. Soon enough, Kame entered the room with a baseball bat under his arm, a glove that looked quite worn in one hand, and a large paper bag in the other.
“Baseball practice?” Jin asked earlier that day when they got home from Kimura-sempai’s clinic. Coming into the house, Kame declared that he’d be leaving again to play.
“Yeah, I’ll be back before 8,” Kame said, smiling as he swung his bat over his shoulder.
“Wait - eight?!” Jin panicked, anxious over being left alone. “What am I gonna do ‘til then?”
“Watch TV?” Kame grinned. “You’ll be fine, Jin. Besides, I won’t be too long. I’ll be back before you know it,” he promised.
It was seven in the evening, and Kame was quite wrong with what he said. All this time, Jin was just impatiently waiting for his return. Kame had this tired but satisfied look on his face which told Jin that baseball really was his passion.
“Our dinner,” Kame offered as he approached the couch, handing the bag of takeouts over.
“I bet it doesn’t taste as great as your cooking,” Jin grinned, sniffing the contents.
“I would cook, but I’m a bit exhausted - ”
“What - no - I didn’t mean - ”
“Relax, Jin,” Kame beamed at him before turning to leave the room. “I’ll just go take a shower. You can start eating if you’re hungry.”
Jin determinedly waited for Kame to finish before taking the food out. When Kame came back into the living room, he indeed looked less frazzled, now fresh and smelling of the combination of strawberries and his shampoo. The younger man settled beside him and arranged their meal on plates.
“So you still really love baseball huh?” Jin commented as he took his first bite. Kame looked at him curiously, and he realized what his comment sounded like. “Your picture - ” he supplied, referring to Kame’s junior league photograph displayed on the living room shelf.
“Oh… yeah,” Kame nodded. “More for exercise now than before.”
“Did you want to become a professional player?” Jin asked, feeling like he should already know the answer to his question.
Kame nodded again, “But Mom wanted me to study music. She submitted my university application without my knowledge!” he said animatedly, amusing Jin.
“What about me? Did I apply for university by myself?” Jin was curious about his family, of course, but he wasn’t sure how to go about telling them that he’d lost his memory. For now, Kame was really the only one he could trust to understand what he was going through.
His boyfriend thought for a while, chewing slowly, before replying, “From what I remember, you and your mom agreed on it. Your dad wasn’t too keen on it because he wanted you to study business, but he let you do what you want anyway.”
It sounded like Jin had a fine family, then. Maybe, one of these days, he would ask Kame to take him to them.
“Do I play baseball, too?”
Kame smiled, and Jin could only guess how much Kame was reminded of so many memories that Jin should know too.
“No, you always liked soccer better.”
After dinner, Kame proceeded to wash dishes, and was a bit surprised to hear Jin volunteer to help him. Despite much taunting from his boyfriend, Jin did help, and he actually felt good about it. He could really live like this - being around Kame felt like such a peaceful and relaxed lifestyle - except that he was of course still curious about his past.
“Am I good at cooking like you?” Jin asked as they rinsed hands, having finished their chore.
Kame laughed in response, eyes watering. Jin made a pout, slightly hurt that Kame found the idea of him cooking so hilarious, but then Kame held his hands and washed them together under the faucet. As he did so, he reassured the taller man, saying, “You’re better off leaving the kitchen alone, but you’re good at a lot of other things.”
Kame tuned in to a subbed Hollywood movie after they returned to the living room, and Jin thought for a moment before shrugging and clambering onto the sofa and cuddled with Kame, practically scooping the smaller man into his arms. They remained like that for a while - though Jin really didn’t understand much of what he was watching because he was anticipating an objection from Kame - but the younger man seemed comfortable with their pose.
“Anou… Can I ask you something?” Jin started after a while, finally acknowledging his boredom over the movie.
“Hn?”
“Yesterday, I… kinda stumbled into the laundry room and I saw - ” Jin hesitated for a moment, not really sure how to say it, “ - a lace undergarment - ” he would have to congratulate himself later for that brilliant choice of word, “ - with a letter ‘L’ on it…?”
He could swear he felt Kame stiffen against him - not the good kind - and suddenly, Jin was worried that he’d just admitted to cheating on Kame with someone whose name started with the letter ‘L’ because, seriously, who in their right mind would cheat on Kame?
“Let’s… not talk about that right now,” Kame dismissed in a pretty much emotionless voice, and Jin was more than happy to let it go.
“Can you tell me more about my friends?” Jin decided to ask in an effort to change the mood.
He immediately regretted inquiring about it, though. Not only did Kame seem absorbed in the film they were watching, but they, too, were inevitably reminded of how their talk about this topic was cut short by them making out and Kame ending up giving Jin a blowjob. It still made Jin feel funny in the pits of his stomach and made his cheeks heat up.
“Well, as far as I know, you still frequently meet up with your soccer teammates from back then,” Kame replied, his eyes never leaving the TV screen. “Shirota-san, and Pi… and Nishikido,” the younger man added, crinkling his nose with aversion.
“Who are they, and why does it seem like you don’t like ‘Nishikido?’” Jin just had to ask.
“It’s Nishikido Ryo, and I don’t dislike him,” Kame clarified, now obviously less interested in the movie. “It’s more of… he doesn’t like me.”
“What? Why?”
Kame shrugged, “It’s just been that way ever since highschool.”
“What about this ‘Pi?’” Jin asked next, deciding that he’d find out about this Nishikido - Kamenashi rift some time later.
“His real name is Yamashita Tomohisa,” Kame chuckled as he spoke. “His nickname in highschool was ‘YamaPi,’ and so I call him ‘Pi,’ but I think you and your friends call him ‘Tomo’ - ”
“Well you seem to be really close if you’ve got a special nickname for him,” Jin said, completely unaware that he sounded like a jealous boyfriend. Kame made a half turn, still in his arms, to face him.
“We were rather close in highschool, you know. We were in the same class for a year, before I got transferred to section A - ”
“Such a nerd,” Jin said in a deliberately audible undertone.
“- after which you two became the closest friends in the world,” Kame continued, drowning out Jin’s mockery. “At that time we were just waiting for you two to announce your engagement -”
“What!”
“You guys were just so close, you were inseparable, and you showed up at each other’s individual activities and stuff,” Kame explained, now fully facing Jin.
“We didn’t… really date, did we?” Jin asked, feeling awkward to be asking something like this.
Kame laughed again, and it told Jin that it was all cool. Kame was such a supportive partner, and he was very patient even when Jin was being ridiculous or bratty.
“I don’t think so,” Kame said, still grinning. “And I’m thankful for that.”
“Me too.”
Jin was suddenly serious, so Kame’s smile faded a little and they stared each other in the eye.
“So, if I ever cheated on you with this Tomo or Pi guy whom you’re close to… would you be angry with us?”
Kame lunged at him with a fake growl - more cute than scary - and Jin chortled as he was pinned down.
“Akanishi Jin, if you plan on doing that, how would you want to die?” Kame said, leaning over him with a wicked grin. Jin lifted his head a bit to peck the lips of the man on top of him before replying.
“I don’t know, dying like this would be pretty neat -”
The kiss that followed was deeper and more passionate, though it was also punctuated with much giggling and snickering. Jin found it difficult to keep his hands off the smaller man, and soon he was touching the skin beneath his shirt and down his pants and everywhere else he could reach. Kame was a bit reserved with his hands, and it frustrated the older man, so that Jin found himself reversing their positions. As soon as he was on top of Kame, he started to practically rip their clothes off, and he could tell how Kame was shocked by this, but he couldn’t wait anymore.
“Jin - are you sure - ” Kame tried to ask despite the haze of lust slowly clouding his judgment. They were now both totally naked on the living room couch, with the television still making a racket in the background.
He wanted Jin. Hell, Jin wanted him, too. Except he thought they should not really be doing this given Jin’s current condition.
“Shhh~” Jin hushed, kissing Kame on the lips, slowly as if to show a preview of what they were going to do. “I may not remember anything,” he began, trailing soft, wet kisses down Kame’s neck and jaw. “But I know what my body wants.”
They looked each other in the eye and Jin could see how Kame was trying with all his might to push his apprehensions to the back of his mind.
“I know what my heart wants,” Jin whispered, leaning in for another kiss, longer and softer still.
Jin’s fingers danced over Kame’s hipbone, before slipping down to his thigh and feeling the smaller man’s heated skin, muscles slightly trembling at the building pressure.
True, Jin felt like shit most of the time because he could not remember his life, but when he was with Kame - when he had moments like this with Kame - Jin felt like, perhaps, the past is a fair trade for this, for him to enjoy their time together without worrying about a lot of things. Kame made him feel safe, filled in the holes in his life that had been created by his memory loss, and he would be a fool not to appreciate how all that he ever needed was in this one man.
Jin shut his eyes and willed himself to not totally lose control as he felt Kame’s fingers tangle themselves in his hair. He ground down against Kame and the both of them made loud, mindless moans that were sure to reverberate around the house. Kame almost lost his head as he watched Jin put a finger into his own mouth, covering it with his saliva, and he, too, shut his eyes when he felt Jin’s hand crawl over his chest, down to his stomach and groin, until it dipped between his legs and teased his hole.
Kame instinctively clawed at Jin’s shoulders when he felt the man’s finger penetrate him, but he had to admit - the impatient groans Jin was making as he pushed two fingers more in and out of Kame made the smaller man want more.
“Can I…?” Jin half-sighed his question as he pulled his fingers out.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Kame asked again, wishing that Jin would just falter and he would have the perfect reason to push the taller man off of him.
“Yes,” Jin uttered without second thought. “I am,” he whispered, capturing Kame’s lips in his once more as he positioned his length against Kame’s entrance, pulling Kame’s legs to wrap around his waist.
Though he allowed Jin to do as he pleased, Kame tried to keep himself from responding. He didn’t want to enjoy himself. He knew it was not right. How can you call it making love if you barely know each other? Kame could only squeeze his eyes shut even tighter as he felt Jin’s lips upon his neck.
“Kame… are you alright?” Jin slowed down after a while, concerned. Kame was barely making a sound despite Jin’s tender movements. The younger man nodded hesitantly.
Contrary to how they started off, they went very quiet and gentle, kissing and caressing timidly with only sighs and slick sounds coming out of them. Kame could only resist for so long, though, as after a while he found himself meeting Jin’s thrusts and clinging to the taller man, just wanting more of the heat and the friction. Jin’s thrusts sped up, though arguably still rather slow, and he wrapped his hand around Kame’s shaft, pumping in time with his thrusts.
Kame was torn between pleasure and regret, and he knew Jin would certainly ask about his feelings later on. It was not right to be doing this. Jin didn’t know what he had gotten himself into, and yet Kame was the one to blame. Kame tried not to think of that night - what happened that night was not his fault.
“C - come with me - ” Jin breathed into Kame’s ear as he locked their fingers together. Kame’s half-lidded eyes looking at him with nothing but desire sent him over the edge, coming inside the smaller man. His one hand was still tight around Kame’s likewise pulsating member, warm fluid staining their chests and stomachs.
Jin gave Kame’s lips a peck and looked at the man underneath him, trying to convey the overflowing affection he was feeling at that moment. The sight that met him, though - Kame looking back up at him with dark and gloomy eyes - confused him. Blinking away the sweat from his eyes, Jin found that look to have disappeared. Maybe he was imagining it. Or maybe Kame was just overwhelmed by the pain.
Jin grinned and buried his face in the crook of Kame’s neck, and he fell asleep like that, in the arms of the only person he trusted at this moment in his life.
To be continued…
