I mean, it's been a week since my birthday and I've yet to receive a birthday gift from the bf. He says he's been busy with work, money is tight, he's not been feeling well, and the store ran out of the gift he wanted to get for me. I'm so geram and sien lah. For the sakes of non-Malaysians, geram and sien more or less

No, I don't think it's not too much to expect. Birthdays only come once a year, and unlike other holidays like Chinese New Year or Christmas, your birthday is a special day, just for you! (And everybody else born on your birthday, but that's not the point)

i guess it's either compromise or talk over it, it's not fun when expectations are not met, but it'll be good to tell your expectations before hand, becoz men will never understand what kind of expectations you have. the normal thoughts of a man having lived together with you for a number of years, considering you as a wife, actually does not realise the importance of small things like these to show appreciation. They think coming back home at all in a day should make you happy. So, the best thing to do to make everyone happy, is just tell it out, your feelings and everything, in a nice tone that is...never assume anything, and never think too much. i know it's easier said than done... :P
