Hard choices.

I'm very seriously thinking about not working as a snowboard instructor this winter.  I am feeling like I don't have enough time to get things done already - and I am only working 5 days a week.  Working at Jiminy would push it to working 7 days a week, only having two days a month off, and would make me overwhelmingly exhausted all the time.  So I ( Read more... )

Nope. They have very stringent requirements for # of hours worked, and they would rather not have you there at all than only have you there for less than the maximum required time. Even as a volunteer and not a paid employee, I'd be working too many hours.

The only option that might work is if I did Stride - which is a separate program that works with teh disabled - but I would be in training for that every weekend for the next month or two, and probably would have had to sign up months ago.

What if you offered yourself as a private lesson instructor locally and just used the mountain? You could then choose how many students you took on and what days/hours you would like. Or is that not really kosher?

I have thought about doing that. I know if I was actually employed there that I'd get in trouble - but since I'm not, I don't see why I couldn't do it. Heck, I could teach at any mountain, since I wouldn't be tied to any one. I'm sure someone would pay me for that :P
